I have heard that putting monkey balls (from a tree) in the corners keeps ALL bugs out of the house...you just have to collect them in the fall. I, personally, would set off some bug bombs in the apartment.
we moved into a new apartment and there seems to be a lot of spiders, my husband kills a few a week. besides the fact that i am terrified by them, one was a brown recluse which is highly poisonous if it bites you, i could go y=to my landlord and demand he gets an exterminator but thought i would try some solutions on my own first. anyone know of any kid safe spider killer, besides the sticky traps, i wont be able to live here if i have to see how many spiders there really are here.

I had spiders too, big brown ones...and I mean big! I don't know what they were but when mulch was put down, they arrived. I put pure peppermint oil in all the corners of my house. I put it outside on both porches too. It worked. It made the house smell great too. I have that book 1001 natural secrets to pest control, theres a lot more ideas in there, you could probably look up natural remedies on line too. I bought two large peppermint oils at gnc, last spring and it worked all summer. I think I will do it again just in case! GOOD LUCK!
I'm not from PA but found some different kinds of spiders here that love the inside of my home. The first ones I saw was the ones that look yellow and hang out in the corners of the ceiling and web themselves in. Freaked me out since we came from NC, lol! Found there were harmless. Then there's the tiny hopping spiders that are a fun challenge to mash with some tissue. Not harmful. I just keep after them and spray, inside and out.
I can honestly say if I got a poisonous spider in my home, especially with having 4 kids in my house, I wouldn't fool around with trying to deal with them myself. Poisonous means professionals so my opinion is to call in the pros cuz poisonous is nothing to mess around with.

Hi T.,
When we moved into our house 8 years ago, we had the same problem. About a year later, I found an online wholesale club that only sells "green" products. I joined and now "very rarely" get spiders. We still have a few "small blonde" spiders from time to time, but nothing like we used to. In fact, my daughter was constantly being bitten by them and having allergic reactions that we were at the doctors constantly. Now, IF she gets bitten, we can treat it w/ our safer products from the wholesale club. If you are interested, let me know! Membership is only $29 to start and $12 to renew every year after, but you can only get signed up by another member. Let me know, and Good Luck!

I wouldn't mess around trying to figure out a solution if you found one that was poisonous. Get your landlord to get an exterminator asap!
Well you may laugh, but the spider solution in my house is Dow Scrubbing Bubbles cleaner!!! It foams up, and literally suffocates the spider. When the bubbles go away....dead spider. And the spot is clean too!
Works like a charm every time.

by pa. Law ; your landlord must provide a safe home .
Call the landlord asap
say you and child are in danger .
Do not let him charge you $ free ... His job . Not yours
it is fairly cheap to exterminate .i am sure landlord has a contact w/ 1 of the bug co.

I would definately contact the landlord if you think there are poisonous spiders around. But in the mean time until they get someone in I would try the two rewmedies that were already given or go to your local home depot or lowes and look at what they have to offer I got a spider killer there and sprayed it around last year and it seemed to lessen the problem. Good luck in what ever you try.
Don't take any chances. You already found one brown recluse. Call your landload ASAP! Demand that he/she get an exterminator out there immediately. You don't want to take any chance with your little girl.
I have read that if you spray Lavender essential oil around that will keep the spiders away. I myself haven't tried it. But a friend of mine swears by it. I spray insecticide around the perimeter of my house.(I can't have anything inside due to being sensitive myself to chemicals) So this keep all the creepy crawly things out.good luck
