I'm looking for a great kids' hairdresser in Mission Viejo or thereabouts. Full disclosure: I'm a former hairstylist with high expectations!! Actually, I just cannot get my daughter to sit still for me, even in front of the TV. So I'm looking for a great stylist that can do the job while I keep my daughter immobile. We tried the kids haircut place near Henry's Market on Santa Margarita Pkway, and her haircut was a disaster, totally uneven. I realize most places like that are employing newly minted aka "green" stylists, so I do not mind paying a bit more for a quality haircut with an experienced stylist. Thanks in advance for any great referral you can give me!!
Thanks for all the great suggestions, moms!! 2 out of 9 of you suggested Courtney at Salon 1 and since it is so close to our house I took my daughter over there today. Well, just being in a salon did the trick and my daughter was an absolute angel, didn't wiggle once and we both love her haircut!! I may start going there myself, as well as my husband. So thank you for all of your responses!
We go to Monique at 'A Star is Born.' She is AWESOME!!! It is located in the shopping center on Camino Real next to Sports Challet around the corner from Kaleidescope off of Crown Valley. My son is very hyper and we get so many compliments on his haircuts. They have cars and things for the kids to sit on and she is great with cutting hair with kids moving their head around. Good luck.

I take my son to "A Star is Born" in MV off of Crown Valley. He's a wiggle worm and they always give him a good haircut. They are very patient and it amazes me how they just move right along with him.
I just have boys, so no idea how they do girls hair, but I like First Cuts in the Mission Viejo mall.

I took my 11 month old to Cool Cuts for Kids in Laguna Hills the contact details below. It's a very nice kid friendly place and my son really doesn't stay still for anyone. The hair cut took about 10 minutes and we are happy. I hope that helps.

I would recommend "A Star is Born" next to the Kalidescope center on Crown Valley. The stylist there have been there a long time. I also tried the place on Santa Margarita (thought it would be closer) and was also very frustrated with the results. Went back to A Star Is Born and much happier. Hope this helps.

There is a place over by the mall called "A Star is Born". Same kind of kids atmosphere as the one you tried, but they might be better. There's also a kids place in the mall. Not sure of the name, but it's over by the play area near pottery barn kids. Good luck. Not sure you'll find what you're looking for that specializes in kids. You may have to move to a regular salon to get the cut you want.
