Has anyone had any experince with the bike trailers for kids. They usually seat two kids or up to 100 lbs. I am looking into buying one for this summer. It is my answer for high gas prices. If you have used one did you like it? Were you able to fit two comfortably? would i be able to fit a almost newborn in with them if i chose to do so? They are very expensive so I dont want to buy one unless I am for sure for sure they are worth it. I also could you the exercise so I look forward to that side of getting one too! thanks alot!!

What can I do next?

We just bought one with our taxes. I picked mine up at Wal-mart, for around $110. It has the extra wheel attachment for a stroller. I am very happy with it. We use it weekly for with my 8 month old.
While brosing in Costco the other day, we saw they had one in for the season. It had all the features we had, but a much sleeker style. I belive it was around $180.
When we originaly started looking, I wanted to get one at a bike shop. They maintaince them for life it purchased from their store. The cost would have been around $200 + more for the stroller attachment. Then I stumbled across the one at Wal-mart, and I think I am just as happy with it.
My girl-friend who's daughter is now 12 used one when her daugher was 1 until about 5 years. She purchased her's at Toy R Us, and had wonderful luck with it.
Ours will fit two comfortably! We've even tried to squeeze three, but it was too cramped for them.
I love mine...and I was told I could not use it until my baby was older. But he loves it so MUCH! We live in a very tiny town, and I don't go on any main streets with it because I can't find a helmet to fit my baby.

I refused to let my hubby use one after reading an article in a parenting magazine that they can be a health risk for babies. They can tip over, there is always the possibility of being hit by a vehicle, & in some rare cases, they can come unhinged.

He used a seat that attached over the back wheel for our daughter & it had a 5 point harness in it. However, that doesn't help with 2 kids.

If you want to use one, remember that they HAVE to be old enough to wear a helmet; I wanna say I read that it was the law, but don't quote me on it. Regardless, they need a helmet for safety's sake.

Good luck & you're better than me...I'm too lazy to try it!!

I still use mine, started when the kids were probably around 9 months old. It seats 2 very nicely and comfortably and converts to a stroller VERY easily. I looked around and went with a the In Step - Duo cruiser. It holds max 100lbs and has 2 5pt harness capabilities. It has the double steering wheel accessory that my kids used to love. Now, not so much, too old. My husband suggested that we get rid of it now that all 3 can ride without training wheels confidentally and a couple miles each way to go to parks and such. But... with the price of gas, I figure next year when all 3 will be in school for a few hours each morning, I will use it for grocery shopping instead of driving. Meanwhile, it is hanging in our garage. I know it will get a lot more use. Oh, and a couple years ago, my husband had the trail-a-bike on the back of his and then had the bike trailer attached to that behind. It was so cute having my whole family lookin like a parade. We got LOTS of looks as we rode on the paths thru our neighborhood on the way to Baskin Robbins for the dollar scoop night! :) Have fun!

It's not recomended to use these for kids too small to wear a helmet. Even a jogging stroller is only recomended for a child of 6months unless there is a carseat attachment. You may want to do some research to see what your options are. What about public transit? Most of the information recomends waiting until 1 year before bicycling with your baby no matter the carry method.
There are some beautiful trailers out there. Two fit very comfortably and some of them are very versital and will convert to strollers and such. You may be able to find a used one on craigslist or something so they are not so expensive.
