I'm looking to plan a craft day with my moms group and would like give the children a lesson in giving. Does anyone know of a group that would collect drawings/art projects from young children to be sent oversees to military personnel?

Check them out at www.OSOT-IL.org
The organization is always looking for letters/art from young on up to include in the packages they send to troops deployed in harms way.

I know this isn't over sea's, but what about the VA hospital? They would probably really appreciate it. =) What a great lesson you're doing! Good Luck and have fun!

It really depends if you are a member of the family or not. My friends husband is over seas and her children send mail twice a month to the corp office on base. if you can get a hold of them i am sure they could help you. I know that isn't much help but i just thought i'd throw it out there...good luck!

Hi N.,

A friend of mine and her husband send about 10 care packages a month to troops stationed in the Middle east. I'm sure she'd be willing to help out. If you'll send me your e-mail in a private message, I'll send it along to her.

Check with the USO. For the most part US military can not accept packages labeled " US soldier ". They must have a name / unit etc. But contact the local USO and they may have something.

My husband has been in the Navy Reserves for 16 years and is now a Chief. If you need a group, I'm sure he could put you in touch with a deployed unit from Great Lakes to mail something to. They love to get mail, and I know many would appreciate children's artwork because many of them in the units are 30+ and have young kids at home. If you are interested in this route, feel free to send me a private message and I can make some connections.
