Being that some women don't even lose their plug or notice they do, I would assume that is what it was. Congrats, tell us about the baby when he/she gets here.
Moms,
I'm 21 weeks pregnant and I'm having these contractions, at first I thought they were Braxton Hicks but my belly is really hard and these contractions are lasting over close to a min. I've had about 3 in the last 45 mins. I talked to the doctor and told me to wait for an hour if they continue to see him @ the hospital. Have any of you gone through this? Should I wait, or go?
Also about 4 days ago I lost a bit of mucus about the size of a grape but I thought it was to little to be my mucus plug. Please help
So I'm @ the hospital, we are monitoring the baby (she's ok) and I havent dilated , so they are keeping me, possibly overnight to see what happens, fortunately the contractions have stopped for a while now, and it turns out I was a bit dehydrated (??? I drink plenty of water) and my sugar levels are a bit high, so we'll see I'll keep you posted, thanks for the advice moms!! u guys are awesome!!!

I have lost babies. GO TO THE ER!
Drink tons of water and go to the hospital. Now.
Why risk it? Just go. If it's nothing, they just tell you to go home. Good luck!
It could be Braxton Hicks or ligament pain. They can very closely mirror real labor, especially if you've been doing any type of strenuous activity or are dehydrated. Sit down, put your feet up and drink some water. Wait the hour and see what happens. If they get closer together or continue at regular intervals, then I'd head in immediately. I would also call him and let him know that you're on your way that way he can meet you there.
Good luck!
I had contractions like that with my summer baby. I was dehydrated. I had to lay on my left side and drink water until the contractions stopped. They always did. Try it, if they last beyond an hour or so, go in.
I would follow your doctors instructions but if they get closer together or more intense or anything new happens definitely call him again or head to the hospital.
I had something similar happen when I was at 33 weeks with my first and was just sure I was going into labor but it passed.
Good luck,
K.
I'd go to the ER. I'd rather be safe than sorry.
Listen to the Dr. that is what you are paying him for. Also, do NOT try and drive yourself. If you do not have anyone to drive you, call 911. They will come and get you. Again, this is what they are there for.
Good luck.
M.
Follow you doctor's advice. Go to the hospital if they continue or get worse. Good luck.
I would go, considering that you also possibly could have lost your mucus plug. It certainly will not hurt anything, but if it is real labor you want to give them the chance to stop the progression as soon as possible. You do NOT want to have your sweet baby this early if you can help it.
Drink lots of water now and on the way too. If it is braxton Hicks that should help them go away.
I am 22 weeks and just had an appt on Mon where they told my contractions can start when dehydrated. If you feel contractions drink at least 32 oz of water at once, lay down on your side and if you have more than 5 contractions in one hour call the Dr immediately.
Go directly to the hospital if you have a gush of fluid or bright red bleeding.
Dehydration is one of the most common casues of preterm contractions.
Better safe than sorry - I'd go to the emergency room. If it's a false alarm, then you can go on about your day, but if things progress too far and you are really in labor, you don't want to have second-guessed yourself and waited too long to go get help.
Let us know what happens! I'm thinking good thoughts for you.
S.,
I just read your "so what happened' post.
All I have to say is...hang in there!!!! Get well!!! and I am thinking of you!!!
Good Luck!!
M:)
Go to the hospital. You cannot risk the life of your unborn child and yourself by waiting if you, in your gut feeling, feel like something is wrong. Its better to be safe than sorry.
go - don't wait- 3 preemies taught me that!
