Laser Hair Removal - Charlottesville,VA

There is an awesome groupon for laser hair removal but it expires tomorrow! I've been thinking about it for a long time, and now that this has shown up, I really want to do it. Does it really work? I would want it for my chin/jaw line. I do have dark hair and light skin, which they say is needed. But I hate the fact that you can't pluck for like 2 weeks ahead of treatment! I can't go more than 2 days! Anyway, has anyone ever had this done? How many treatments did you need? Should I bite the bullet and just buy the coupon? I feel like I'm jumping in too quickly and need to have a consultation with them or something first.

What can I do next?

Hi. I've had it done initially the same area as you and I've moved on to others b/c I love the results! It has not been permanent for me however, I need to do it 3 times a year to stay hair free. I've been doing it for 10 years now. I go to a dermatologist to get mine done. I am black so we cannot use just any type of laser as it will/can scar our skin. Not sure what your background is but keep that in mind, if, it applies to you. I would do a consult first as a lot of place routinely offer the sale. It's well worth it and good luck!

I had my bikini done. No real change after 4 treatments so I complained. 5th & 6th (final) treatment they turned the laser up. Hoo boy, it stung pretty good, but now I have very few bikini line hairs. They offered me a touchup for $25, so I will probably go back one more time.

I had it done a few years ago on my bikini line and I wasnt impressed with the results at all. There is definitely less hair but its not gone and i need to wax before striping down to my bathing suit in public still. I too, have light skin and dark hair and it def. was not worth the money. Butif the coupon makes it do able for you I say try it out
Good Luck

I to am African American and I had this done in my 20's. This was well before kids. Now that I have had kids I think hormonal changes caused hair under chin to return. Or as previous poster said maybe i was too young to go to someone that specialized in my skin type. I am satisfied cause it is no where near what it use to be but I had to have alot of treatments so it was costly... Bottom line. Don't be pressured. Do your reseacher.

I bought a groupon for the same thing. I've only had 1 treatment so far, my next one is on Monday. The treatment was super easy and painless.

The place I went to requires that I come clean shaven. Before I bought my Groupon, I called the laser hair removal place and grilled them for additional details.

I have noticed that after only 1 treatment, the hair doesn't grow back as quickly, so I'm excited to see how it goes after I'm done with all of my treatments.

I'm currently doing it! I love it! It has been life changing for me. I'm also doing my face, and currently considering doing other areas as well.

At first I was very skeptical because my laser tech advised me to start shaving the areas that were going to be lasered. And yes you cannot remove the hair through plucking, waxing, or creams..etc. You can only shave the area. I have been doing it for half a year now, I'm getting great results. The hair is almost gone now, I still get hair but it is thinner, lighter and significantly less visible than before. The laser is attracted to the dark hair of the root, so it sounds like you may be a perfect candidate for laser removal. As far as the hair growth, and how many treatments you'll need, it is different for everyone. Some people need less others need more treatments like myself. I strongly recommend it!

Don't buy the coupon yet. I just went to a national chain for my consultation because they were having a 50% off special. I had a quote for underarms and Brazilian wax. She quoted me nearly $10,000!!!!! BUT, with 50% off it was just over $4,000. Seriously? I laughed in her face. Our local, renowned dermatologist does it for $150 a session (max 10 sessions). Just be careful who you use and get personal recommendations. Research thoroughly and make sure you are comfortable with the price, facility and staff. Don't rush into this. It's a lot of money and you want to be sure to use someone you trust. Good luck!

You can't pluck, because it pulls the hair out at the root and then the laser can't find it. But you can shave until your treatment! :)

I did it on my bikini line and love, love, love the results. I'd definitely do it all over again.

I have never had laser but I work at a salon and specialize in body waxing. One of my clients tried it, she said it didnt work, and she got several treatments over a years time. Also she said she could pay for a years worth of waxing for the price of one laser treatment. The area she was having done was her armpits.
