Hello!
Wondering if anyone has any ideas of vacation places for winter break. My husband was able to get some days off at the last minute and we would love to get away with the kids. Disney World would be packed, I'm thinking, so we'll skip that one. We are not to far from Kalahari in Ohio, but my son is just one inch too short for most of the rides:( Anyone have any ideas. My husband has 5 days off and we would love to get away as a family and have some fun!
Thanks
N.

I thought Kalahari was a water-park?? There are other water-type things in Sandusky (where Kalahari is), and one of them was definitely smaller and lower-key. sorry I can't remember which one. Their height requirements might be different. Check Castaway Bay (I think that is what it's called) too. that's not the smaller one I was thinking of, but again, check their restrictions.
Splash Lagoon in Erie PA is fun. It won't occupy you for 5 days though.
Or you could go stay in a cabin in Hocking Hills, some of them have jacuzzis, I hear.
Go to a city you haven't visited and explore--zoo, museums, restaurants, hiking/biking (weather permitting of course). If you like to swim, try to find a motel with an indoor pool.
Good luck and have a good time

N.,
Last year we went to Kalahari with our 2,4 and 6 year olds. All are small for their ages, but they had a blast! There are so many different areas. Our kids loved the wave pool, water slides, outdoor hot tub and arcade. I think your son would enjoy himself even without going on the big rides.
Whatever you decide, I hope you have a great family time!
Have you loooked into Great Wolf Lodge!!
Hi N.!
Yay! Congrats on having some vacation time! I actually don't think Disney would be too packed at this time of year, but if you wanted to go somewhere closer, I would highly recommend Great Wolf Lodge. There are a few different locations, but the one we went to with our boys when they were 4 and 3 1/2 (just this past May) was the one in Traverse City - we had a wonderful time!! Good luck on figuring out where to go and enjoy!

We LOVE to go to Great Wolf Lodge!

As far as Disney World goes, it depends on when you are going. February is not a super busy time for Disney. I know because my dad works there and constantly tells me the "counts". I'm guessing that it would be a great choice as you have lots of other options in the area as well.
go to www.priceline.com and bid on some last minute hotel/flight options... you can get GREAT deals.
Hi N., go to Kalahari anyway! There is so much other stuff to do there than just ride the rides! Also, some of them are family rides and your son can get on them with you guys. Kalahari is an adult friendly place,so there's lots for YOU to do as well. Keep in mind we sacrifice DAILY for our kids and you should be able to enjoy a family getaway too!
I here Great Wolf Lodge in Michigan is a great place....
I'm from Michigan. We have a wonderful winter getaway here called Great Wolf Lodge. It is an incredible hotel with a big indoor water park housed inside. It is fun year round, but a great getaway in the winter. I know they have other locations because my brother takes his family to one in Kansas City, not sure where else they are located.
Hope this helps,
Jenn
The last 2 years we have taken the kids to Frankenmuth and stayed at the Bavarian Inn Lodge. 5 swimming pools and arcade, indoor putt putt golf. An area where the kids can karoake (that includes a bar area for the parents). My kids love it. Other thoughts for a real get away that I have had are taking the train to Chicago for a weekend or Washington DC. Another place we have always loved is Myrtle Beach. Just depends when you are going, the weather can be a little iffy. We have always gone in late March or early April. Frankenmuth also has Splash Village which is a little like Great wolf.
