Anyone have any experience with Lifetime Fitness in Overland Park? We are interested b/c they have a child care center, but I am a little concerned with how ell they may keep an eye on the older children....my daughter would be separated in the infant area, but my 3 year old may get overwelmed by the older kids....

What can I do next?

Hi. I recommend Bally's on 105th and Metcalf. It's a little hike for us but we just love it there. There can only be 10 kids in the daycare at once. We have been there for only 4 months but we go every night so we know everyone there. This is the place you need to be!!!

I am a member there and they actually run they child care very well. I have 7 mo twin girls and a 5 year old boy. I started putting the girls in there so I could take my son to the pool. Now he only wants to go to the child care because he has such a good time there. I don't know at what age they are allowed in the bigger kid area but the toddlers are separated from the bigger kids in a section that you go through to get to the infant area. If there are any problems, they'll find you in the gym. They put stickers on all the kids and you can't leave with a child (even your own) without checking out at the desk which they check with photos off the computer. In fact, if I drop off my kids, my husband can't even pick them up. I have to come back to get them out and then he can take them once they are out of the child care. Hope this helps!

My family has been at Lifetime since they opened. We love it! I was previously at Prairie Life Center in Olathe. I have a four year old and eight year old and they love to go in the child care center. I have never had to worry about them and the director knows the girls now so that is helpful too. I'm sure they have a trial period where you can try it out and see if it works for your family. Afternoons during the school year are usually less busy and late afternoons on the weekends also.

We just moved here, and I've only been to this Lifetime once--during the morning hours. It was pretty busy, but there is so much for the kids to do--far more than any gym I've ever been to. If you're really worried about overwhelming your 3y/o, I'd suggest going in the early afternoon if you can. It is far less busy then, since there aren't as many classes. Once school starts, the big kids will all be gone as well. If anything is wrong, they call you on the overhead speakers and even walk around with your name on a board in case you didn't hear them. They do a great job with security--checking pictures before they let you out with your kids.

Lifetime is really nice and so is the pool area for kids. I'm not sure if they daycare has gotten better, but not long ago, a 3-year-old child left the center and when the parents came to get him, he was nowhere to be found. They thought the child had already left with his parents.
Not to discourage you, but wanted you to be aware.

I joined Lifetime about 1 year ago and love it. My daughter is now 13 months and still not walking so she's in the infant area. I think they do a really good job with the kids and especially keeping them safe. They are so nice and professional everytime I go in there. It is true that the early afternoon is the least busy which may be good for your 3 year old. It seems like they have a lot of great activities for the older kids. I would highly recommend joining.

We joined Lifetime last winter, when my daughter was 4 months old. We have been very happy with them. Everyone is so friendly. And the fact that you get two hours "free" childcare everyday is great. Sometimes my husband goes out and just reads. Our daughter has a great time playing and my husband gets in some good quiet time.

We just joined LIFETIME in OP in mid-June. I have found everyone on the staff, down to the cleaning crew in the locker rooms, to be professional and responsible. I have NO qualms about leaving my kiddo in the child care center. And the facility is wonderful.

We were members for over a year and left due to a conflict and the poor customer service. I had an issue with one of the staff and called manangement and spoke with her once, she said she would look into it and get back with me. She never did, I left several messages and emails with no response. I even went so far as to call the corporate office, they said they would look into it and get back to me and never did. Seems to be a pattern with this company! Besides that I saw several changes in policy depending on who was working. The biggest problem I had with the childcare was in the evening when there was teenagers working. They would talk to each other or on their cells no matter what the kids were doing. the other thing I didn't like was the lack of service at the end of the day. I work full time long hours, so we would go in after a late dinner. So I was usually picking my daughter up at 8:45 or 9:00 to get a workout in. She would be sitting on the floor by the exit door or sometimes allowed to play on a computer. Most of the lights would be turned off and they would have cleaned up already, so who was caring for my child? One other thing to consider is you have guest passes with your membership, when you bring someone, they will call them all the time to try to get them to join. It is kind of embarrasing, when your friends say they keep calling me. It is a really nice place and definately has all the frills, but if you have a concern or problem, it might be a challenge to get any help or management to even take your call. Just wanted to share my experience and keep you informed of all the sides of the story. Good luck with your choice.

Our family joined Lifetime last January. We love it! I have a 6,4,3 and 1 year old. They have been great with them in the child care. My little one was about 9 months when we started going and was in the midst of separation anxiety. They were so great with her. My older kids love it so much that it is great motivation for me to get to the gym. They ask to go all the time. The pools are great too. In the winter we went to the indoor pool all the time and it was never crowded. I checked into a lot of places before picking Lifetime and it was the best by far! Hope this helps!
