Have you tried the Dallas Employment Agency? I sent my resume there and they provided many leads and interviews. I landed a secretarial job through them for double what I was making in my previous secretarial job. Give it a try. Good Luck.
I am seeking employment that would allow me to take my son to work with me or pay me enough to afford the astronomical prices of daycare. I am literally one step from a shelter for me and my son. I am about to lose my car. I came to TX because I was told the job market was promising and that the pay is more. Each time I go to an interview there are 50 plus people there for the same job. I can land a low level job but I can't afford daycare and a home and a car with it. I have no family and I have since separated from my "ex-husband to be" since the things he promised me what I have not yet seen. For anyone that is thinking of why did I come out here, it was because he said that I could be a SAHM for a while until I get use the the area. But when bills started to pour in he became abusive verbally and mentally. I knew then I needed to get back on me feet and work. I have no family out here. He is the only one that I am faniliar with besides a couple of older and wonderful ladies I have meet at church. Can someone please help. I am an educated person, I have a degree and 8 hours away from my second. My experience is in administration, clerical, customer service, call center, management and support services.
Thank you.

Thank you all for the leads and advice it is so welcomed. I just started a job at Applebee's on Frankford. I worked at a Applebee's in college and thought that it would give me quick money. It feels good to go to the store and not count pennies for diapers. I am so thankful for this job. I am spending my days looking for day time work because the this job doesn't pay enough to cover daycare. Please come into Applebees Wed-SAt nights to visit my section. I am a very good server. Thank you all again. Forgive any typos my son is running out of the library door.
New Update: I am on the waiting list for TWF childcare assistant. Could you help me out, what exactly is the CCA in Lewisville and do I have to live there? I am living in Far North Dallas and a step over into Addison.

Hey M.,
Have you thought about doing inhome childcare? You can get listed immediately and watch up to 3 other kids in your home. Later you can get registered and watch up to 6 kids. It might be something to consider until you can find the job you are looking for and you won't have to pay daycare. Something to think about it. Good luck! www.kidsinbloom.blogspot.com
Apply for state assistance! You can get emergency funds.
https://www.yourtexasbenefits.com/wps/portal
You can apply online if you've never applied in the state of Texas. Also, if you're having trouble getting child care you can tick the box for phone interview; that way you don't have to spend hours in the office, waiting.
Good luck to you!
The best thing is to spend all the time you can spare looking. Even if you have to take a step down and apply for simple jobs. An immediate paycheck is most important and maybe you can do something at home on the side until you find something with better pay. Depending on your area, you should contact in your county the Texas Workforce Commission and apply immediately for Childcare Assistance (CCMS). Also if you are truly in a rough spot you can apply for immediate food stamps (now credit card) to use until you can get back on your feet (also county services.)
M.-
I am so sorry for your current situation. I understand how hard it can be to live so far away from loved ones, especially in a time of need. Where in the metroplex do you live?
Where do you live now? Do you currently work? I know what you are going through!
I forgot to mention another place called the CCA in Lewisville. They help with childcare, food, clothes and Thanksgiving/Christmas (meal and children's gifts). You have to live in certain counties but it is worth a try! They helped my sister alot.
There are a few companies with onsite childcare. JP Morgan Chase and Pizza Hut off the Dallas Tollway are two of them. I believe Zales and JC Pennys Corporate offices in either Arlington and/or Las Colinas also does this. They use Bright Horizons Childcare. JP Morgan Chase was back-up childcare the last time I checked. But the time you get is free and they really take great care of the kids. Also ask around at churches if you can work nights and Sundays. Apply for government childcare if you have too. Some churches help with bills and food and the Salvation Army does as well. I have been where you are and I know it's hard but it does get better! Hope everything works out for you.
M.,
Check out Craig's List (http://dallas.craigslist.org/). I'm in the midst of a job search myself and have found that site useful. Not quite as "crowded" as CareerBuilder & Monster.
Check out church programs. My church, Christ United Methodist (Coit & Parker in Plano) has some helpful programs. Also, you could check out Mother's Day Out programs at local churches or see if there's a scholarship program at area church day care until you get back on your feet.
I'm not sure about the starting pay but Starbuck's offers benefits for part-time (not sure if it's the customary 30 hours or what).
You may also want to check out Career Connection (http://www.careerconnection.org/index.html). You may not be able to attend the meetings (unless you can get care for your kiddos) but perhaps you could join and get job leads.
The job market here is pretty decent - but when you're looking that's little consolation. There are also a lot of faith-based organizations to help people during trying times. Contact local churches about their food pantries, etc.
Hang in there - this is temporary!
No doubt you will eventually find something suitable. However, it sounds like what you need right now is some financial assistance to tide you over until that first paycheck. Do you belong to a church. If so, start there. My church has helped me out a couple of times during a financial crisis and I've always been able to pay them back.
If you do not belong to a church, find one in your area. You don't have to join, just ask them for resources to help you out. Their staff usually knows a lot of resources to put you in contact with and you might even leave there with a small donation from them.
Don't be too proud to go to a food pantry. They are all over the city and your situation qualifies you. Your family comes first and they need to be fed. You do not have to end up in the street. Most people in your situation just don't have access to all the resources that are able to help them.
If I think of anything else I'll let you know.
God bless.
I know you already found something, but I wanted to tell you about selling Tupperware - its is great for some extra money and doesn't cost much at all to get started. I know how tough it can be - I have found this to be a great way to stay home with my 2 1/2 year old - we can't afford daycare either.
I am a Tupperware Consultant and I love it! Tupperware has been around for 60 years so it pretty much sells itself - especially this time of year when people are shopping! It is truly flexible - you can host home parties or set up online parties, where all you have to do is email your friends, they sign up and they email their friends to shop! You just sit back and collect!! You can also set up bridal registries and fundraisers. The possibilities are endless and everyone always needs something! I honestly just started, but love it already! I love being able to stay home with my daughter and still bring in money!
Why I chose Tupperware after ckecking out every opportunity out there?
1. The products have a lifetime gauranteee! I remember my mother hosting a party over 30 years ago when I was a kid - she still has and uses lots of items from her party and they are still in great shape!!
2. Great Reputation - been in business over 60 years and has brand name recogniztion - who hasn't heard of tupperware?
3. These are products anyone can use - no matter their level of cooking - we even have toys! ( My mom still has some of my tupperware toys too!)
4. Very low start up cost in comparison to other companies - You can start for as little as $69.00! And you get so much great products in your kit that you are happy even if you never sell anything!
5. Lots of opportunities for selling and marketing! You can sell to your friends and family in home parties, then to their freinds, or you can host Online Parties - which Tupperware makes super easy for you with marketing emails!, you can do fundraisers with schools, clubs, and charites, you can do bridal registries online. The possibilites are endless!
7. You truly have the flexability to work your own scedule - do as many or as few parties as you want - don't like doing home parties - do online parties!!
6. There is so much potential for moving up within the company - make this as small or big as you want to!!
7. The start up kit is awesome!! You get some many truly useful items in it - some people sign up just for the kit!
8. Tupperware is FUN! There is a real team atmosphere, exchange of ideas, and tons of support!
9. There are always great prizes and incentives every month - free tupperware products, trips to Hawaii, Convertable and much more!!
10. I can spend as much time with my family as I like - which is the most impostant thing to me!!
