does she have them on her feet as well? or around her mouth? My daughter had them on her feet at about that age, and it was hand, foot, and mouth disease.
my 18 mos old has these little purple specs about the size of a pin head on her hand. i just noticed them today. any ideas? they dont seem to bother her and she doesnt itch them or anything. they are not raised at all. i am wondering if she has been pinching herself...she has been doing that to me, but they are soooo tiny
she only has about 5-6 on the top of one hand and no where else and no other symtoms. she seems happy and normal

This happened to my daughter when she was a baby and all I remember is that the doctor thought it imperative to have her thoroughly checked. It turned out to be fine but there was a more serious condition he wanted to rule out. I would take her in asap as others have said.
I was wondering this same thing, but my sons is different than yours. He had them on his neck looked like someone took a ren pin & poked him all around both sides of his neck & also around his right eye. Wasn't sick or anything. called the DR & they said just keep an eye on it. It has since went away & I still have no clue what it is. GL
Hi Alli - they sound like petichiae. It when little capillaries under the skin get broken and they make little purple or reddish purple dots on the skin.
Check her thoroughly all over her body to see if you can identify any other areas where the spots might be hiding. You might also check inside her mouth, under her tongue, etc.. It could just be from a virus, in which case they will absorb and resolve on their own. If these dont go away, she gets any more or gets larger purple blotches anywhere, call your doc asap.
Has she had any nose bleeds? Any bruises? If she gets a nose bleed or gets any more or is brusing easily take her to the Dr asap. I don't mean to alarm you but when my daughter was 3 she got all these pin red marks, then her nose started bleeding, and then bruises started popping up all over, all in one day. We took her to the emergency room and she had Idiopathic thrombocytopenic purpura (ITP). Which means she didn't have enough platlets in her blood, so her blood wasn't clotting. We ended up at Childrens and her having an IV overnight, which worked. We were very lucky and I thank GOD everyday.
Again don't mean to be alarming but just want you to be watchful.
