Hello~ I am looking for any referrals on bike trailers or carriers? Which one does everyone think is better? Any certain model the best? Thank you for helping with my Christmas shopping!

The wee-ride is awesome! My husband goes everywhere with our son on it! And actually, to correct the other poster (sorry!) there are 2 sizes of wee-ride with different weight limits... so no, you can't take your 8th grader on it (HA!) but it does accomodate a good sized munchkin - everything else the other poster said about it is true! My husband loves being able to interact with our boy as they ride - talking, seeing what he's seeing, etc. If you search on www.squidoo.com you can see my husband's review and a film of the wee-ride in action with a youngter. ; )

We did a TON of research on this topic early last spring. We thought about several options:
1. Trailors like the Chariot or Burley. We opted NOT to get one of these because they're big, very expensive (like $350-$400 by the time you get everything), and we heard that your kid often gets dust in his face and can't see that well anyway. My sister found one for around $90 - I can't remember the model. They decided that even if it was cheap and broke, they could replace it 3 TIMES before they'd paid as much as one of the expensive ones :) I think they like it.

2. Behind-the-seat bike seats. We opted NOT to do these because it's hard to balance the bike, they're sort of expensive (around $100-$150), and your kid can't see anything anyway.

3. In-front-of-the-seat bike seats (two models are the ibert and the "wee-ride"). We bought a wee-ride. Bike balance is great because the kid's weight is right with you. They can see because they're in front. You can see them so if they're crying you can figure out what, if anything, is wrong. Disadvantages are: weight limit (wee ride is 40 lbs I think... ibert may be more like 35). You cant use these with a road bike - you need to be sitting up a little more. If you're very short/small framed, you may have trouble fitting the seat on your bike. YOu may need to splay your knees outward when you ride.

All in all, though, we're pretty happy with it, and our son LOVES it.

Good luck with your choice!

we bought a bike trailer, it's the "In Step" brand, I can't remember the model. We bought it at Sports Authority. It wasn't as expensive as Burley. My ds was a year old when we started with it, we LOVE it! My dd is 4yo, for her we got a "Wee Ride" trail a bike. It attaches to my husbands bike and she can either pedal or coast. Love it too.

I own a trek trailer, which is very good, but expensive. We have owned it for several years and it is great! A friend of mine purchased a schwinn this past summer (similar construction to the trek) that she found for half the price I paid for the trek. She is very happy with it. Good luck and happy cycling, we love ours! It is well worth it!

Hi! Don't now if price is a concern, but I saw two for sale at the OUAC on North Meridian. Just thought I'd let you know. PM me if you want more info.

Without a doubt spend the money and go for the weehoo recumbant. It will take your child through age 8 for sure, as this is the age of my daughter and when we go on long rides, she still enjoys this trailer. We had a burlee, which we use for a short time, but she outgrew it. We tried a standard trailer bike, but she gets distracted on 20 mile rides and it is hard to pull her when she is always trying to look around you to see what is ahead. This problem is resolved with the weehoo, because she sits lower. It has a 5 point harness, so if your child can sit up, they can ride in it. I truly can not recommend thie product strongly enough, it changed our life.

I have the Burley and LOVE it! I actually got it off Craigslist and only spent $75 for it!! It is has SO much room for my daughter and so many other things. It has pockets, in the inside, for her sippy cup and snacks. We haven't had any problems with the dust getting in her face. There are two different things to put over the front. One is a screen and there is another one that is just clear for rain, etc. What is SO nice, too, is that you definately get the money back once you try to sell it. They go for hundreds of dollars, USED, on eBay and Craigslist so I figured I will just sell it when we are done with it. Good luck!
