I am a stay at home mom of 3 great children and would love to get them a puppy for Valentines day but I can't aford the pet stores. We have 2 dogs now but they are getting old and will not play with the kids. They would love a puppy to play with. I think is needs to be a puppy because my husband really doesn't want an other dog but I think if it is a puppy he would fall in love with it easier. If you know of anyone who has small puppys to give away please let me know.

What can I do next?

I'm all for adopting from the humane society, PetSmart, or rescue agency. That's where we have gotten all but one of our pets. You might also check the classifieds in the newspaper. There are usually people trying to "adopt" out their puppies.

Have you tried the animal humane society on michigan? They often have puppies and they have a website that you could view what's available....the cost is somewhere between $75-$100 and it includes all shots. And you are saving a life...Hope you find your new addition to your family.

We got our dog from PETS SMART's SAVE A PET adoption agency. They are normally in the stores on Saturdays but you can call them ahead of time and see what kinds of dogs they have. They have all ages and some that might be young enough to play but old enough to be house trained. Not to mention that you will be saving a dog from being euthanized.............. Good luck!!

How old are your children?
I adopted a dog from the PetSmart adoption days last August. We think she's about a year old, some sort of dachshound mix maybe. She's a sweet dog, and my 4 year old adores her, but she's just too energetic for my 20 month old to handle. I don't want to take her to the pound because I know she'd be put to sleep, but my husband and I both work full time and a dog is just too much for us right now.
I would love to find a loving home for her with older children!
