My son will be a year in Dec. He will be due for the MMR and I really want to split it up into 3 separate shots. I have been following Dr. Sears' Vaccination schedule. So far the two clinics I have contacted in San Jose said they can't do it. do you know of a clinic that can do this or how to research this?

What can I do next?

If you don't find a doctor that will split up the shot another option is doing the shot later. My daughter is 21 months old and we have not done the shot yet. I told my doctor that I did not want to do it until she turns two or later. I will probably wait even longer. My doctor just said that if there is an outbreak I should come in and get the shot ASAP. Her body will be more ready for the shot at that time.

A few years ago, we did the mumps shot first at Kaiser Mountain View but by the time we wanted to do the other two, they didn't carry them separately anymore. We ended up waiting to do the full MMR shot until he was a bit older. Good luck.

Hi!

Kaiser in Santa Clara split up the MMR shot for my son when he turned one in 2005. My daughter just turned one last week and the nurse said they couldn't split it up. But I think she is new, because I have never seen here there before. I will ask a different nurse when I return in a few weeks. We have been getting all of my daughter's shots separate, going back every 3 weeks or so. Just keep trying. It CAN be done!
