Well, I've decided it's time to turn off the TV and drag my daughter outside once in a while. I think she would enjoy an easy hike or climb, but we would need something with hills rather than cliffs. (I'm not as young as I used to be and she inherited by propensity toward clutziness!)
Can anyone recommend a public place in the Fort Worth area where we can go walking/climbing? We have a great park where we live, with a nice walking trail all around, but that doesn't really interest by daughter. In my mind's eye, I see a place with no trails, lots of gentle hills and maybe a few big rocks to challenge us. Any thoughts?

Try the Fort Worth Nature Center! Sounds like it has a lil of all what your looking for!
Have you tried the Ft. Worth Botanical Gardens? You start at the main center (bathroom break) and then walk all the way to the Rose Gardens/fountains then cross the road to the other side (more gardens, Japanese Gardens ($), lots of wildflowers) then head back to the main center. there are things to climb on, wildlife to see (we saw a roadrunner, fox, squirrels) and it is plenty of walking. we were there 4 hours one day!! take your camera...it is beautiful this time of year.
we also enjoy the Water Gardens in downtown Ft. Worth. it is a concrete jungle and lots of walking. free!

Just yesterday my husband was at Eagle Mountain Park on Eagle Mountain Lake. It's on FM 1220 near Peden Rd. He said he saw a Mama bobcat with a baby- several times. The views were awesome too. Great hiking. No admission fee either.
The Ft Worth Nature Center and Refuge has several hiking trails with some hills. It's on Hwy 199 (Jacksboro Hwy) and Confederate Park Rd just outside of Lake Worth. I think they charge a fee now to get it. Here's their website: http://www.fwnaturecenter.org/
If you're up for a drive, Mineral Wells State Park (http://www.tpwd.state.tx.us/spdest/findadest/parks/lake_m...) has some great hiking.

Check around Lake Grapevine. THere are many hike/bike/horse trails around the lake.
Cedar Hill State Park, Dinosaur Valley, LBJ Grasslands possibly, northern Lake Grapevine...are some local places...have fun and good for you all for getting out!! Take your camera!! :)
Have you tried Inspiration Point? It over looks lake worth. Its a great view and tons of people use it to hike. I think its off of Roberts cut off. In River Oaks.
