Hi,
I was looking for a fun place to stay along the north shore, a nice town with some fun shops. I would just be traveling with my sister and mom, NO KIDS! They will be at home with dad for a weekend.. Any ideas for a fun trip with a cute town? Thanks!

Grand Marais is a great little town! It's cute, has tons of little shops, there are a lot of outdoor activities...you can't go wrong. There are loads of cabins to stay in, just do an internet search for Grand Marais lodging and I'm sure you'll find a lot.

I, too, would highly suggest Grand Marais. Perfect shopping town for you, your sister, and your mom. Put this one on the list if you go there...."The World's Best Doughnuts" shop. Get there early!

Duluth would be the closest. Lots of good shopping. Stay at Canal Park, shop at Canal Park. Right on Lake Superior.

After that, you really need to go to Grand Marais (quite a bit further). I love Grand Marais...terrific shopping, beautiful city, all within walking distance. It's about 2 hours north of Duluth.

Bluefin in Tofte is very nice, and there is a little bit of shopping right there, or you could drive up to Grand Marais...it would take about 30 minutes. Bluefin is my favorite place to stay on the north shore.

My thoughts. Feel free to ask more, as I have spent lots of time up and down the shore.
