I use Dr. Peter Caruso for my OB/GYN and Dr. Joseph Kanarek for my pediatrician. They are both based out of St. Joseph Health Center (I-435 and State Line).

Dr. Caruso is very calm and never takes anything for granted. My kids love "Dr. K", he has never taken any chances with my kids and his staff has been there 4-ever and I find that is very telling about doctors.

I don't have their numbers handy, but I am certain you can look them up online.

Good OB/GYN - Dr. Carrie Grounds w/ Womens Clinic of Johnson County or Dr. Rita Oplatnik (not for sure who she is with).

Pediatrician - Dr. Matthew Buss w/ Georgetown Family. He's been wonderful with my daughter from day 1 (she is now 7 months).

Hope that helps.

Well I work for an OBGYN. But before I went to work for them I worked in Labor and delivery at St Joesph Medical Center and there are alot of good docs there. The one things you need to consider before choosing a doctor at St Joseph though is your insurance. They only accept few blue cross and with that being a more commonly used insurance its just good info to know. And with the closing of baptish medical center alot of the docs lost that as thier alternate and were transfered to research. Now I dont know your feelings about research and no offense to anyone, but I would not want to deliver there. If you want to strikly stay on the kansas side, I would recommend the womens clinic of johnson county. Dr Shipman delivered my daughter but I also had the pleasure of working there and believe all the physicans are wonderful. Good luck in your search.

I also use Dr. Stephen Gordon at St. Joe Hospital (435/stateline) ###-###-####, my sister is a RN and she has worked for him in the past and still uses him. She does labor/delivery now (so she know a lot of the ob docs) and she still highly recommends Dr. Gordon.
Our pediatrician: I LOVE Dr. Megan Loeb. She is in the Child Care Limited practice, also at St. Joe. ###-###-####. She is one of the newer doctors in the practice. But prior to joing their team(which all of the docs in the group are great) she was the Chief Resident at Childrens Mercy downtown...which I understand to be a pretty big deal!?! I just love her bedside manner. Very easy to talk to and you are never rushed through an appointment. I like that she is "new", a fresh set of eyes, but in a practice that has many years of experience. I have been with this practice for 5 and 1/2 years now and never had a bad experience...even with the office staff. They have the seperate waiting areas for sick/well kids. Walk-in hours every morning and every Saturday!!! That's hard to find!
Good luck choosing, there are many wonderful doctors out there!

Wow. You have lot of referrals already. I use Dr. Stephen Gordon. He is located in Saint Joesph Health Center. He is an excellent doctor; he delivered 3 of my children and several of my friends' children. He has a woman doctor in his office too who is also great. Good luck. C.

I am a local Certified Labor Support Professional (Doula), and I recently did a birth with Dr. Newby. She was great, so I would echo that reccommendation. Pediatrician, I use a familly practice doc for our 2 boys - James Rahto of College Park Familly Care Center in Overland Park near College and Quivira. Good luck!

I see Dr. Errick Arroyo. LOVE HIM TO DEATH. He's great about working with you and getting you involved with your health care decisions. He's at the Kansas City Women's Clinic ###-###-####. They office at the medical building next to Overland Park Regional. I think the address is 10600 Quivira Rd. That practice also has an office at St. Luke's south. Dr. Crystal Newby was the Dr on call from that practice when I delivered my son. I would actually recommend anyone in that practice, but highly recommend Dr. Arroyo.

Hi N.,

We used to use Pediatric Professional Assoc. at 435 and Quivira. Our Pediatrician there was Dr. Vannaman. Absolutely loved the office and especially him. We left them only because our insurance changed. We now go to

JOHNSON COUNTY PEDIATRICS
8800 W 75TH ST STE 220
SHAWNEE MISSION, KS 66204
###-###-####
Our Pediatrician is
TYSON, MARY M., MD

There are a total of 10 doctors in the office. My boys have seen several of the doctors when we've gone in for sick child visits and all are very good. Johnson County Pediatrics have longer hours for sick child visits than Pediatric Professional Association.
