I moved to Grimes a year ago and have been really bad about going to church, but my family watches services on tv on Sundays. We are looking for a Methodist church anyone know of a good one that offers contempory services or is very welcoming of new members? Also one that can perform my fiance and I's wedding next July. Thank you

What can I do next?

Have you tried the Grimes UMC? My family went once to the 10:30 service, and it was pretty contemporary (lots of singing newer songs, band, kind of free-feeling). It wasn't for us, but the people were very nice and very welcoming. We actually ended up joining St. Peter Lutheran, which we really like. I grew up Methodist, and feel comfortable there. Feel free to message me if you have any more questions about either:)

Hi there. I am fairly new to the area and so I don't know how close you are to Waukee, but we have recently joined Waukee Methodist downtown in Waukee. We first visited the church last summer and ended up joining in March. It is a small church and there is a mix of ages of members. My kids are school age and I like the Sunday School set up, although there is no Sunday School during the summer. There is a contemporary service at 8:30 and a more traditional one at 10:45. My kids usually do pretty well during the service. There is a children's time with the minister. The minister is very welcoming and friendly.

Come for a visit. See what you think.

I know you want a methodist church and this will sound like the furthest thing from it...I have just recently started going to Salorville Baptist. It is rather large (around 600). There are good programs for your 6yo. It is socially active. The services aren't rock bandish contemporary but by all rights they are contemporary. The people are very friendly and welcoming. You may just find youself enjoying a Baptist church (LOL).

I was Methodist when I arrived in Des Moines looking for a church. My family and I found "The Bridge" campus which is a part of Meredith Drive Reformed Church. It is very close to Grimes...I believe the street is NW 62nd (where the Kum and Go is located off of Hwy 141). It is approximately 2 miles from Hwy 141 on the left hand side of the road. It is a comtemporary service, has alot of community involvement, and had fantastic kids programs! The service starts at 9:30 AM...that is actually where I am headed right now!! Good luck!
