I have an 18 month old son, and am looking to put him into a preschool/daycare environment, for a few days a week. Most of the preschools that I have called, only offer a full time schedule. Can anyone recommend a school that I can take my son to for 2 to 3 days a week for a few hours that is not a faith based center?
Also, what is the difference between daycare and pre-school? he will probably go in when he is 2 years old, is this too young?

Childtime in Plano on Hedgcoxe offer full and part time programs. They are a wonderful school with older staff. I'm sure you and your son would love it. Call and ask them about their school. They would probably let you have a trial day to see what you think. Call ###-###-####. We love it!

After trying two other programs finally I found what I wanted. My two kids go to a great montessori in Custer and Spring Creek. They have full time and part time programs and they are very nice people. We love the teachers. The name is Soraya Montessori Academy ###-###-####. Good luck.
There is a wonderful pre-school program called The Early Learning Center at First Christian Church at Belt Line (Main Street) and Grove Road n Richardson. They have a part-time program, and don't even offer full days. They are accredited by the National Association for Education of Young Children (NAEYC.) It is faith-baised, but they don't teach any religious ideas. The director's name is Kristen Pelto, and the number is ###-###-####. If you are interested in learning more, call before you are ready to start taking your son. They fill up fast.
You might try Primrose Schools. They're franchised so each school will have different programs, so check around. Most schools offer only full-time for younger children due to the needs of full-time working families. But try calling a few different schools to find out what they offer. Some offer 3 days a week (hours up to you) and some offer 5 half mornings ###-###-####).
Also, the difference between "daycare" and "preschool" is that daycare is just that, care for the day. Preschools have curriculum and structured daily activities usually based on themes or units of learning. Primrose preschools are accredited too - which means HIGHER QUALITY of care and standards.
You asked if 2 years is too young to start school? Actually, if you're going to start a child, age 2 is great. Keep in mind though, if your child has never been in school before it will take him a little bit of time to build up his/her immune system. He'll most likely catch something of some sort w/in the first month or so. Not unusual due to it being a new environment, new germs (yes, even in clean schools). This is normal as they are getting use to things. Also, sometimes the transition may take anywhere from a week to a couple of weeks.
Primrose is the only school I can personally recommend as that is my experience with my son. They are wonderful schools.
Good luck to you - just look around, there is bound to be a part-time program somewhere. Another note worthy of taking into consideration... YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR. Don't deny a school due to price, just because you can save money, think about what else you may not be saving in regards to your child. It is worth paying a little extra for peace of mind and for the safety and security of your most treasured love.

Polk btw Beltline and Abrams. The name is All our children. I called them when I was looking for my son who was two. They were real sweet and very knowledgeable. They do have two days a wk and three days a wk along with full time preschool. They use the Leaps and Bounds programs designed from SMU and they aren't faith based. They also help in pottie training but sounds like your little one wouldn't be ready for that for another year.
If you didn't want preschool. I would recommend a Mommy's Day out program. It's for a few hours two to three days a week but it's more daycare then preschool.
Call around, visit some unexpectedly and see how the kids are treated and act with the teachers, check out a few before you choose one.
