I love Dr. Bennie at Harpeth Pediatrics (right off exit McEwen from I65). Not a long wait time, always answer when I call in with questions which I love since mine is my first too, and I never feel rushed. I can tell she honestly loves kids. She has never made me feel dumb even though I'm sure some questions were, and she seemed to back up my decisions on things. Oh, and the office staff is great, which is a big deal- who cares if you love the doctor if you can never get in to see them or get angry before you ever make it that far.
I have also seen Dr. Huss when my son was sick and I love him too. He did the circumcision in the hospital for us, which was important to me. You don't mention if you're having a boy or girl, but for circ. as long as your insurance allows it, it is best to do it in the hospital, and I really wanted a ped to do it, not my OB or whoever was on call. Not many peds will do the circ. He did a fantastic job too.
As far as the female vs male, I don't know. I would be happy with either of those docs and can't really say I'd prefer one over the other just because of their gender.
You can do an interview visit before the baby comes with them. Just call to set it up. I didn't end up doing it b/c mine came early, so Dr. Bennie just came to the hospital and I really liked her.
