Looking for a Playgroup (Again!)

Ok, I have been searching all around for a playgroup or some sort of activities for my son and I. None of them seem to work out. Here's what I'm looking for-really just to meet other moms(I don't know any!), just to hang out with and do different activities together. Anybody interested in starting any, or any suggestions in finding a group like this? Thanks.

What can I do next?

I found that joining park district activities was a good way to meet other moms with kids of similar age to mine. Playgroups often begin out of mom and tot classes!

Hi. I live in Hoffman Estates, closer to Palatine. Do you stay home, or do you work? I stay home (work one day a week)...I take my 9 mo. old son to the Hoffman Estates Recreation Center (Willow) on Tuesdays at 1:00 to a Kindermusik class. It's a lot of fun! If you want more info, let me know. They also have a 9:00 and I think a 5:00 time. The new class (starts in 2 weeks)is filling up fast.

If this doesn't interest you, maybe we can talk or maybe get together some time....

Find a class for your son. That is a good way to find mom's with the same age children. Try Oaklees guide or even the Park District. Gymboree is also a good one. The Glenview Women of Today meet every second wednesday of the month. I know there is a lot of young mother's in the group. I know anyone is welcome to join.

Have you tried the library? I know they do groups during the day for small children and parents. What about the park district, I know they offer programs also. I am not far from you, I live in Streamwood but I work full time.

Hi! I am a stay at home mother of a 15 month old son. I am always looking for new moms to hang out with. I live in Mount Prospect which is not far from you at all. If you would ever like to get together feel free to email me. We can go to the mall near my home-Randhurst, which has a nice play area for the kids. We can try to attend storytime at the local library. We can even go out for a cup of coffee. It's up to you. I understand it's tough to make new friends.

I have found many moms on Matchingmoms.com, you can search by your zip code.
I would be willing to get together but my son is 21 months old and I live in Bloomingdale, which might be a little too far.

M.,
My name is M.. I am the mother of a 3 1/2 year old little boy in Arlington Heights. We just moved to Illinois a few months ago, and do not know anyone yet. If you would like to get together to do something with the kids, (or just for some adult conversation) let me know. I am a stay at home mom. In January I start back to school for my bachelors degree in graphic design (6 months left). E-mail me at anytime, I am always on line. haha
Thanks,
M.

M.,
It seems that we're all so busy these days that it's really hard to meet other people. I used to live in Palatine, but I moved to Chicago over the summer. I know several Moms who've joined the group called MOPS (Mothers of Preschoolers). They plan events, swap babysitting, and provide a group of people to turn to for advice. Check them out online and they'll give you the closest group to you.
Good Luck,
P.

PS. I joined the Buehler YMCA when I was there and it was really worth it. They have activities for Moms & Tots and they also have a nursery so you can work out (or just read a book) in peace. There is also a big maze for kids to play on - even babies, while you sit and talk to other Moms. Gymboree is another place to go with your baby and meet other Moms. There is one on NW Highway in Palatine.
The Palatine Park District has several Moms and Tots activities to sign up for as well.

Hi M.,

I too would like to meet a network of moms. I have a 7 mth old girl and a 3 year old boy. I'd be willing to meet up locally for adult conversation and kid interaction.
Don't know if you were looking for moms with just one child.
Let me know your thoughts.
