I am looking for a preschool for my 4-year old daughter that is still enrolling for the fall semester. I know it's a long shot, but if anyone knows of any, I would GREATLY love to hear where. Thanks so much.

P.S. Or of a Mother's Day Out Program, or anything of that nature that my daughter could participate in 2-3 days a week.

What can I do next?

I think St. Paul's Preschool (78th & Lackman in Lenexa) might still have some openings and they are wonderful! Both of my girls have gone there and loved it and learned so much! One of my daughters actually still goes there. They have a 3 day or 5 day pre-K class (morning or afternoon) and also Children's Day Out. The director and teachers are amazing, and they are very reasonably priced. Here is a link to their website: http://stpauls.cmitechnologiesinc.com/preschool/index.php
Good luck!

A.,
I understand where you are coming from. I had my children when I was 18, 20, 23 and 33. They are now 7, 17, 20 and 22 years old so that makes me 40. I would never put you down for having children at your age. But what you might be perceiving as put downs from some people is more of a pity response. So many people regret having kids so young. I never understood that. But recently I have at least come to a place of understanding how some people would feel that way. I do realize how how much I missed out on by not really going out and living life before I became a mother. But there is nothing that can be done to change it now for me and nothing that can change it for you.

I know I'm responding to the section about you and not your request. I don't know of any external preschools. But I do know that I love teaching and I would be pleased to talk with you about part-time care if it's just a matter of getting your daughter up and out of the house and getting her ready for school. I offer preschool curriculum to my children in my daycare. But most of my kids are still toddlers and we are just now gearing up for more teaching in the year to come.

If you want to just chat about ways you can get her ready for school let me know :) If you want to chat about anything email me.

take care
Suzi

Don't know about the preschool thing, but I too am a 26-yr old mother of two. I think the best thing about having my children at a younger age is that my husband and I will be able to enjoy ourselves after the kids have gone off to college--we won't be old and expired yet! :)

I'm not sure what area you are in but, my son goes to Overland Park Christian Church. They have a Parents Day Out as well as a Preschool. I don't know how full they are on either program but their phone number is ###-###-#### ext 31. They are located at 75th and Conser in Overland Park. They are just west of Metcalf and East of Antioch.

There's a new preschool being built called Little Learners located at K10 and Cedar Creek Parkway. It will be open as of Sept. 4th. I believe the website is: http://www.kslittlelearners.com/. My child is enrolled and it is VERY reasonable. They do part time as well. Good luck!

I think Knox Presbyterian Pre-school is still enrolling. It is at 95th St and Knox (between 69 highway and Antioch). My kids go to day care there. Two seperate programs but both are really good. The day care will also let you go part time if you would like to have more of an all day program. My son is 3 1/2 and knows all his numbers and letters, is starting to write some of them, and comes home with different songs all the time. We love it there!

If you are closer to the Olathe side of OP (we are located caty-corner Indian Creek Library on BlackBob), we have some PreK openings, which are MWF for 2.5hrs. We also have the option of an extended day on Wednesday. We also offer a class for children who are 4, but will not be entering kindergarten the following year, which is only two days a week, TuesThur. We are having our beach camp all week, so our director will be there from 8:30 to 12:00 and you can reach her at ###-###-####. Our website is:

A., I too had my children young. I had my first at age 20 and my kids are 19, 17, 15 & 13 which makes me almost 40. My oldest is on college now. I remember always hearing your just a baby yourself, or you look to young to have a child and I still get you look to young to have a child in college. But I would not change a thing if I could. Like someone else said My husband and I are still young and enjoy so much with our boys that my parents would never do because they were older (my dad was 58 when I was born and my mom 38). Also I had no grandparents becasue they were all dead because of thier age and my parents are dead and now my kids don't have grandparents and this was why I had them so young. I want to make sure my boys children have grandparents and I can not wait to be a young grandma and be there for them. I know I am not responding to your request but I just wanted to share that with you because I remember not being taken seriously also and sometimes still don't. On the preschool, you might try Prairie Early Childhood at 75th & Roe ###-###-####. I run a daycare and send them all there, its a great place. Good Luck to you!

Valley View United Methodist Preschool is awesome. My daughter just graduated from there and my son will be going to the three year old class this year. The four year old class is M-W-F in either morning or afternoon. The last I heard they still had a couple of openings (which is rare). It's been open for over 40 years! It is located at 95th and Antioch in Overland Park. Here is their web site:

I don't know where you live, but I LOVED Rolling Hills at 95th and Nall. Both my girls did MDO and pre-school there. The teachers were so good and caring. They probably are full, but a friend of mine got on the wait list in July, and got her son in.

You've probably found a place by now and I'm not sure where you are located - but if you're in KCMO, the Francis Child Development Institute at Penn Valley College (31st & Broadway) has plenty of openings. They lost a lot of families when the KCMO school district started offering free preschool at some schools around town. I have a 3 1/2 yr old there and he loves it.

Great teachers, nice, new facility, and professional child development experts run it. Personally, I did not want my son to attend preschool in a church and be under a religious influence I didn't know anything about. This school is secular and NOT Montessouri. It's nice and pretty affordable compared to a lot of places I looked at. Also - they are very flexible about the days/times that your child attends. See: http://mcckc.edu/francis/center.html
