Hey D.,
First I commend all of you who stay at home. It's a big job.
As for fun stuff to do with the kids that doesn't cost money...pack some sandwhiches & go to the park. There are many here in San Antonio & most are very nice. Check out San Antonio Parks & Rec online.
- some have walking trails & we turn our walk into a nature adventure. How many different flowers can we spot...how many different birds...pick up trash along the way so that we are helping to clean our community along the way. Pick a different park for each outing. Some of these parks also have bike trails. Load up the bikes & all go riding together.
- some of these parks also have pools. The city has these parks open Tuesday - Sunday from 1pm to 7pm for FREE! You can also pack a lunch in a cooler & take it in with you. On top of that the pools offer a swim team. My 10 year old daughter recently joined & she has practice everyday from 12 - 1 & they have meets at the Nadatorium (Durango & Colorado) on Saturday mornings from 8 - 10. I have had to pay $15.00 total. $10 for the AAU enrollment & $5 for a swim cap. She lvoes it! She is getting a great tan, meeting new friends and improving her swim skills.
- You might also try joining SARecycle & Freecycle. These are websites where we offer & request different items. Many times people are giving away kids pools, toys, clothes. First come first serve. The girls & I have obtained lots of things we needed at NO cost & in good condition. The goal of both of these sites pis to keep things out of the landfills so again we are helping the earth.
Just some ideas. I'm a single mom and every little bit helps.
Wishing you the best,
R.
