I am a 30 yr old mom with an 11 yr old and a 6 month old (both girls). It is Sunday morning again, and we still have no place we feel welcomed to go to church. We have tried some churches around Jacksonville but became discouraged when they were not a good fit...we didn't feel welcomed! My youngest daughter needs to be baptized, but we need a church to help us! We are non-denominational, but have joined denominated churches before..however we maintained our belief that denominations just separate the stregnth of Christianity and since they were created by people, none of the denominations are perfect. Also, would like to find an Alpha group for my husband and I. He was raised going to church once a year and doesn't know the bible at all. Any help or advice would be very welcomed!!!

Hi D.,
My family and I attend Island View Baptist Church (900 Park ave. ###-###-####) on 17 aka Park ave. It is actually the corner of Park(us17) and Loring.Just hop on 295 towards the Buchmann, get off the next exit from Blanding (exit 10) make a right and it is on your right just past McDonalds and across the street from Wendy's. We have been attending there since 2003. We love it. Our Sunday School Class would be the same for you "Young Marrieds". I am on the Children's Committee and the Preschool Committee, and we do a lot of fun things with the youth. For example this coming Saturday, March 21, we have a FREE Easter egg hunt for the kids (9am-10am registration 10am hunt begins), with a free lunch after and Pictures with the Easter Bunny as well. (all this with a strong emphasis on Christ) We may be Baptist, but we are very laid back. Our church does not care what you wear or how you look, you are always greeted with genuine smiles. Although there are some "old fashioned" type that always wear ties and/or dresses. But that is perfectly fine too. I wear dresses sometimes and dress pants others. We are not hung up on all the "rules" Our Pastor is Dr. Scott Conner and he is very hip to the times and current events. He uses everyday life in his sermons. Sometimes he has us all laughing. Our Choir sings Hymns and even throws in some music from the now. Our Sunday School class is going camping in April, well those that can attend, My hubby and I can't yet because I have a 7 month old daughter. Anyway I am rambling now. LOL Feel free to come Saturday morning I would love to meet you and your family. If you just want to come on Easter Sunday, Sunday School is at 9:15am and Church is 10:30am. Wednesday nights are Bible Study and Sunday nights are small groups studies. Hope to see you soon. N. D

We have been going to the Church of Jacksonville for the past 3 years and are very pleased with their children's program (they teach them from the Bible & the older children are expected to bring a Bible, pen & notebook). They are very welcoming and family oriented. It is also a non-denominational church. Check out their website www.thechurchgroup.com Our main campus is on Philips Highway near baymeadows, it is worth the drive if you find a place where you belong. K.

The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints has a wonderful children's program. It is called Primary. It is for children 18mos. to 11 years. When a child is 12 they attend Young Women. This program is for girls 12-18 years old. We also have a women's organization for women 18 years and up. These are programs for teaching us to be children of God, live our lives and make decisions as Jesus Christ would. Jesus is the center of our church. He guides us to make correct decisions in our every day life. I attend the one on 461 Blanding Blvd. It is next to Orange Park High School. Our meetings start at 11:00am on Sunday. We would love to have you come and join us. We have three meetings, 11:00-12:10, 12:20-1:00, 1:10-2:00.

I recommend Celebration Church (http://www.celebration.org). They have a location off Kingsley. They have excellent youth and adult programs to get involved in. We go to the Midtown location, and we love it!

Hi,
My name is S.. I have lived here in St.Johns a year now and we settled in on a wonderful church downtown. It is a 40 minute drive for us but it is worth it. Dr.Brunson is a wonderful preacher. We are a baptist church (which judging from your email I gather you don't want a denomination) But, having said that, all denominations aside, you and your family need a church home where we all basically believe the same thing and have a deep love for Christ and his teaching and belief of his death and resurrection and awareness of our sinful state and that we need Jesus as our Savior. Right? So, you want to be involved where you feel loved and accepted. This church is great. First Baptist Jax (FBCJax.com) has been wonderful for our family. My girls got involved right away and love it. There is always something fun for them to do and their teachers are very caring and give them the one on one attention they need. They also nurture their spirits by teaching them scripture and checking on them by phone at least once a month (if not more). My daughter is in the 4th grade and there is always something going on for her. My preschooler too! Just last weekend they had a teddybear picnic with build-a-bear etc.
Give it a try! They are the only church I have been to in a while (with our recent relocations the last few years) that were intentionally friendly. So many times churches get so caught up in the inside that they fail to reach out to the ones needing it the most. This church has it together. They know it is not about them. Anyways- I could take all day, but I will mention you in my prayers tonight :) best wishes!

Although I have not been there, I know about their childrens program. You can actually go with your child to the childrens program and it is virtue based and adult driven. (our church does it out here in East Arlington) KIDS LOVE IT!!!

http://www.argylestuf.com/KidStuf/welcome.html

Not sure if that helps but it could get your foot in the door to see what else they have. I only know about their kidstuf program. It if based out of the Northpoint Community Church in Atlanta (Andy Stanleys church) and that is where many churches get this program and taylor it to their needs.

Hope that helps!

You should visit Christ's Church in Fleming Island. We attend Christ's Church in Mandarin and just love it. It has wonderful children/teen programming. It also has many opportunities for adult bible fellowship as a couple or women's and men's groups. The one in Fleming Island is a branch from the Mandarin church as the church has gotten quite large. You should try it out one Sunday. You can learn more at www.ccontheweb.com.
