Looking for Advice on What Type of Bike Trailer to Buy for My Son to Ride In?

My son is almost 18 months old and with the weather finally turning nice I would like to start riding my bike. My son is too big for the type of seat that would mount to my bike so I believe that I need a bike trailer for me to pull him behind my bike. Does anyone have any experience with these and any make or style you would recommend?

What can I do next?

My husband is a biking/racing afficiondo (he has 6 of his own bikes in the garage - plus 2 for me and each of the kids!) So, naturally, we bought a bike trailer. My husband did the research to find out which was the best to buy - the end result was, brand doesn't matter. Look at the trailers - put your kid into/out of them. See which works for you. One word of caution - make sure there is headroom for kids while wearing a helmet (you can get free children's bike helmets at most police stations)! We ended up just buying the Bell that was sold at Costco - it had mesh for aircooling and then also a rain cover (which we never used for rain - only when it got colder out!). Also - consider if you have another child that will be using it. Our trailer was used for both of our kids at the same time. Our kids LOVED the bike trailer and we used ours regularly. So, even though we didn't buy 'top of the line' - it lasted, and we were able to sell it to friends for their son.

Hi, We are avid mountain bikers, but I have only biked on the road with our trailer since we've had our kids. We bought a Chariot brand trailer. It has quick releases on the wheels and it folds up easily to pack in the back of a car. It has great suspension, and has been a great trailer for 3 years now.
Hope this helps.

Unless you are a crazy biker, my advice is just go cheep. I got mine at Target for just under $100 (they can be SO much more) You can pay more for the kind that switch into strollers, but really I dont think I would want the hassle. Good luck! I see them at a lot of Mom-to-Mom sales too, but you have to get there really early!

what ever you do just make sure the part that connects to your bike pivot's, so if you fall over the carrier is still upright!
