nothing could be easier than the Flip. My kids, 4 and 7 use it more than me, it's very very easy to use and makes quality videos!

We like the Olympus "Tough" camera line. You can get it wet (goes 10 feet deep), drop it (from 5 feet high), it's freezeproof... etc... basically KID PROOF! We've owned one for 5 years and it still works great! We love that we can give it to the kids to run around and take candid shots and it takes great video. Why buy a camcorder when the cameras do it these days?

Here's the latest and greatest http://www.amazon.com/Olympus-Stylus-Tough-8000-Stabilize...

You can also buy older models for cheap on eBay!

You know, we loved our little Flip video'corder. (Till I lost it. They are to small to stick in a stroller - keep it inside of your bag.) Now they make 'em in HD, so you won't forget a wrinkle on their cute, chubby, little baby necks. And if you search BING or Google Shopping, for the exact model #/name you want... You should be able to find a great deal on them.
Now, I have two caveats: first, it is a pain in the booty to carry around both a video cam (no matter how tiny) as well as a good still camera. Right now, we have an awesome SLR (ie NOT a small point & shoot) that takes great photos (finally - we went thru 3 of the afore mentioned "small" cameras and couldn't get 'the right moment' of either of our Childrens' milestones. They don't flash fast enough, or recharge fast enough, or focus fast enough... Kids are fast, and they make it tough to get a good shot of them) but it cost a bundle AND it doesn't have video - it is a Canon Rebel circa 2007. However, the new version (just as bulky, and just as fast) now also records HD video!
So, really, I recommend going for broke and getting a good (ie sort of expensive) camera that takes both good still shots and video...
OR
Caveat number Two: I think you can buy some computer software (or maybe the newer video cameras come with it) that will grab a still shot from your video footage. I have little/no experience with this method of getting the "best of both worlds", so I don't know how clear the "grabbed" stills are... But it IS an option.

Hope that helps!

Well an easy/small/low priced one is the "Flip."
Go to www.amazon.com to read the reviews of it.
It is very popular and has good reviews!

Good luck!

The flip video camera is the best! It's small and very easy to use - and probably half the price of other cameras. We bought a camcorder before my daughter was born (now 4 months) and then we received the flip as a gift. I've never even used the camcorder and I couldn't even tell you what brand it is. The quality of the flip picture is pretty good. (I tested it at a soccer game with 95K people before baby arrived.) I can upload videos to my computer and share them using online photo sites like shutterfly. I think the camera can also take still shots but I haven't used that yet. Enjoy!

The Flip is the size of a cell phone. Great, super tiny. It doesn't have huge zooming functions but is easy to use, connect to TV, connect to computer, charge etc.

Well you'll wat a digital one that saves to a hard drive. Ones that record to disks only record forty minutes at time. That's what I have. It's a panasonic HDD. It's got the anti-shake, great zoom and takes pictures when dually used with an SD card.

It depends what you want. A flip camcorder is point shoot and inset usb into computer and cheap. You won't get a great picture though...

Most are easy to use and have that setting on it so you won't bother with it. I'm not sure what's on the market now. We bought ours last March.

Hi J.,

We love the 'Flip'!! You have options; 30 min, 60 min, or 120 min. And reasonably priced, connects to computer easily. You can find it at Target or Costco for a better deal. Hope this helps ;D
