Looking for an Enexpensive Daily Use Breast Pump!!!

I know you said you weren't interested in a Medela, and I'm not sure what your budget is, but I had good experiences with the Medela Swing. It doesn't come with the bag and is a single pump rather than a double, so it's considerably less than the higher end Medela pumps (as low as $120 on Amazon), but still electric, which I think you would want for daily pumping.

Check with Airman and Family Readiness or the clinic to see if there are any resources to get one. When I had my first son, I participated in an AF program that included sending a pediatric nurse to my home to weigh the baby, talk to me about concerns, give breasfeeding tips, etc. By being in the program, I recieved a brand new double pump (Medela). It was a good program, very helpful for a new mom. I think they may have changed the program (probably got too expensive to give pumps to everyone) but it may be that they still do it, depending on income. Sorry I can't give you a name for the program, but it's worth asking around. At the time, the nurse was also in charge of the Infant/Toddler playgroup, so you might look around for whoever runs that near you. Good luck.

Check with your Tricare office as well as the parenting class instructors at your base/post. I have heard a rumor that Tricare would have paid the expense of renting a hospital grade breast pump. THat is the best way to go! I do not know if this is true, but it is well worth checking out.
I have the Ameda Purely Yours Electric Double Breast Pump. I LOVE IT. It has the least amount of parts to clean after each pumping, and has lasted me throughout my children's life (9 month old twins). I use it multiple times each day. For me, it has always worked best to pump and feed from bottles, rather than try to breast feed beyond 2 1/2 months.
I purchased the pump that came in the backpack, and it is very easy to pack it up with everything I will need when we travel. Another wonderful thing about the Ameda is that it has alternative plug ins. Being in the Air Force Community myself, I know how easy it is to be reassigned, and All I did was search on the internet for the plug that works in Europe and ordered it. I do not know about this feature in other models, but when I did searches, I was not able to quickly find European plugs for other models. (I don't have much spare time)!

after I tried a few pumps, I must say that the Medela ones are the best and that most of them are in that price range:(
I got a single electric one instead of the double one, cut the costs a little , I bought a new one on ebay. i would not recommend buying used ones unless you can take all parts apart and sterilze which with electric ones you ususally can't.You may be able to rent some in from pharmacies, I am not sure in Japan, but in Germany you can, and those you CAN sterilize.
As I mentioned, look on ebay for a simple no extras pump.

I have a double Medela that I will be wanting to get rid of in the next couple months. I don't know how much you're willing to spend, but we could talk about it. I'm not looking to make a lot of money on it, just off-set the amount I spent. It's fantastic and well worth the money. I think you can order replacement tubing from Medela so it's sanitary. Let me know if you're interested. I'm in Germany but can ship it to wherever you are.

If you are planning on full time use then a good quality double is worth the $$. A lesser model will not keep your milk supply up the same and double's actually keep your milk supply up longer than a single will. ( even if you pump each side the same amount of time) There are other brands but they are all about the same in expense. However if you qualify for WIC you may be able to check one out from them. And if you compare the cost of the pump to the cost of Formula you'll find that the pump will pay for itself.
