Sorry, but I don't know about pre-schools in the area. There are two in Auburndale. The one on the corner of Bennett and Bridger seems to be biggest and best I've seen around. I don't know about waiting lists for this place, as I only have teens. In daycare, I can tell you that colds are inevitable and we all have to live with that. The pre-school should be able to tell if the cold is a cold or an infection and should send home any child that has a temperature and refuse to care for any child that has vomited within the last 24-hours. You're right when you say that naptime should only be an hour. Daycares that allow naps longer than that are using the time as an excuse to deal with other kids or to take extended lunch. As for teaching family values, potty training, ABC's, etc. That's really your job. Certainly, finding a daycare that will "endorse" your teachings is a good idea. But I wouldn't want somebody else teaching my child their family values. Besides, nothing gives you greater pleasure than to hear your child recite something you've taught them. And when they come running up to you to show you that they’ve done a duty in the potty, you both celebrate.
Well, good luck in finding that perfect daycare. I remember that even after I found the best of the bunch, that something would happen that would encourage me to move my kids to someplace else. Either a bad kid joined the class, a favorite teacher would leave or there would be an outbreak of lice, or some other contagious sickness. Sometimes the kids just became bored.
