I sent my boys to a private christian school from the time my first son was in K-4,now my oldest is going in 6th grade, and child #2 is going into K-5 this year. I have little time left to find a good school to enroll them in.It would be nice to find someone who could maybe recommend a christian school that they are happy with and let me know a little bit about the school if possible? I am willing to drive 20 min. to school. This would be a huge help to me. G.

What can I do next?

I do not have personal experience with these schools, but I live in Eagan and two Christian schools in Eagan are Trinity Lone Oak (Lutheran) on Hwy. 55 and Faithful Shepherd (Catholic) on Yankee Doodle. I have had neighbors leave Faithful Shepherd part way through their elementary career, but I am not familiar with the details of their situations so can't really say anything about it good or bad. I'm not sure why (maybe it's lack of availibility of schools as you are finding), but most of my neighbors who have had kids in private religious school move them to public schools for middle school and high school. I think Trinity Lone Oak goes through 8th grade, but Faithful Shepherd may only go to 5th grade. Good luck with your search.

Trinity Lone Oak off Lone Oak Road and Hwy 55 I heard is a good school. They are a private Missouri Lutheran school who won a blue ribbon in 2006 I think it was. I heard many good things about the school and we'll be using it.

We attend Crown of Life Lutheran church and school. It is located in West St. Paul and it is a school for Pre-K through 8th grade. Their website is http://www.colwsp.org/ It is Wisconsin Synod Lutheran; however, there are many kids that are different denominations. There are times when the kids sing in church services but you do have the option to participate or not. The setting is great and the teachers are wonderful. The price is reasonable (especially if you become a member of the congregation); I do not know the stats of how many families are members vs. how many are not. I actually attended the school (when it was called Emanuel) they changed the name a few years ago when they built a new church bldg (now attached to the school) and combined with another church body. Down the road, it is nice to also know they are affiliated with a HS also in WSP off of Oakdale Avenue - St. Croix Lutheran HS. Students come from all over the Twin Cities (even some from WI) and they have many foreign exchange students as well since they have dorm living as an option on their campus. I would say more than half of the 8th grade students from Crown of Life seem to transfer to St. Croix. The school is located off of Robert Street about 2 blocks down Crusader Avenue (turn at Baker's Square). It takes us 15-20 minutes on average and we're coming from Apple Valley (taking Pilot Knob, to 35E, 494 to Robert Street). It's never too late to register I don't think. Classes do start next week. There is an Open House this Wednesday night (kids are dropping off their supplies). Best of luck to you! Please feel free to email me if you have any other specific questions.

I taught at Life Academy in Bloomington for seven years. I am now staying home with my two small children, but I would highly recommend the school. It is pre-K - 8th grade, non-denominational, and has a great family atmosphere. I LOVED teaching there. They have small class sizes and may still have openings if you call now. ###-###-####
