So What Happened?

Thanks to all who replied. I went with two different ideas. I made a purse for my mom from www.personalcreations.com and used the www.etsy.com website to make keychains with the grandkids pictures for my dad. I'm sure they'll love them they all turned out super cute. tahnks again for all your wonderful ideas.

It looks like you have some great suggestions so i thought that I would add a few more. Something that I have done for my husband and grandparents was to take my kids (3 sons at the time) to a pottery store and let the older ones pick out their color and put their hand prints on a mug, one on each side. My youngest son, who was only 2 months at the time, I took some blue paint and painted the bottom of his foot and put his foot print in the middle betweent he two hand prints. It turned out so cute and everyone loved it. The last holiday season, we took all 4 kids outside in our garage and put their footprints in a concrete mold to make stepping stones for grandma and grandpa's garden. They loved it. For ever now when you go out in the garden you can see their foot prints, looks like they ran through the garden. You can get all of the supplies at Michaels. I am planning on doing it again this summer for my own garden. Our youngest was 8 months at the time. You just need 2 people to do the foot prints....one to hold the kids and then other to help gently put their feet into the concrete. Then you just take a stick and write their names and date in the concrete. I hope that this gives you some more ideas for gifts. No matter what you do they will love the gifts if it included the their grandchildren...it's a pricless gift. Good luck!

Hi there, I upload all of my pictures to www.shutterfly.com. I love the website. You can do all kinds of stuff with photos. My aunt loves to cook. So for her birthday, I sat my son in my biggest pot that I have, put some smaller pots and pans around him, gave him a wooden spoon and snapped a few pics. I uploaded them to shutterfly, picked the best pic and had it put on an apron. It even allowed me to put a little saying underneath the pic. The apron turned out great and my aunt loved it!

Hi E.-
I do all my photo gifts with Heritage Makers (www.PictureYourLife.com). The cards list price is $3.95 - cheaper than most Hallmarks! And you can digital scrapbook anything you want into the card. There are also higher end fold out cards, posters and of course hard bound books.
With 4 kids of my own, I had to find something fast and easy. This is by far the best and allows me the most creative freedom. You just go to the website and create your own free account, watch an online tutorial and start making your projects. Let me know if you need any help.

Hi!

My favorite "personal" gift to give to family members that I have the kids "help" me with is their handprints on canvas. I purchase canvas boards from the craft store. I use acrylic craft paint since it is vivid & seems to hold up well on the canvas. Now, I wouldn't leave my child alone with it but with close supervision, you can get some great prints by pouring the paint in a pie pan, flattening your child's hand & placing it on the canvas with their fingers spread (keep a big soapy bowl of water & paper towels near when you are finished making prints... this will lower chances of spillage & get the paint off your child's hand ASAP).

I have 2 children who got to pick out their favorite paint colors-- this is their personal touch to the project. I placed my son's left hand on the left side of the canvas & my daughter's right hand on the right. In the middle, I wrote the message "Little Hands, Much Love" with a paint pen.

This present is priceless since it is your child's precious handprint! I would highly suggest buying multiple canvases not only in case of mistakes but also to enjoy one for yourself. You could even embellish your canvas with those wonderful foam stickers spelling your child's name, etc.

I have always found that something like this means more to my family because it's irreplaceable.

I hope you like this.

p.s. You could ask a hobby store specialist if there is a better paint to use for your toddler. I have never had any problems with my craft paint & it's all I have used. Good luck & God bless!
