We are looking for a dance school for my 3 1/2 year old daughter. We were taking soccer this summer and she really wasn't into it. She always pretends to be a ballerina so maybe she would enjoy dancing a little more. I found L.'s school of dance online and was wondering if anyone has any input on that school or other places? Looking in the Overland Park area

What can I do next?

My daughter started taking dance at The Culture House when she was 3. She'll be in her second year starting this fall. They are a great group and the teachers are some of the most caring individuals you'll meet. Their website is
http://www.culturehouse.com. They offer a class called creative movement for the younger girls and they really seem to enjoy it!
Good luck,
K.

I am a director/performer around KC area and I would recommend Blue Valley Recreation if you want to get her feet wet and see if she likes dance. But the best studio, in my opinion, around the city is Miller Marley School of Dance. I took there and still do as an adult....great school!

My 3 year old daughter started a beginning tap and ballet class at Le Dance this summer. She absolutely loved and we know lots of people that have been very pleased with their classes there. The owner was her instructor this summer and Liz is absolutely awesome! They are located near 151st and Metcalf. If you are interested, they have posted their fall/spring schedule and enrollment starts Aug. 18th and 19th. Their website is www.ledance.com and their phone number is ###-###-####. The Blue Valley Parks and Recreation also offers dance classes as well and they have already started enrolling for fall. Their classes usually fill up really fast and they still have openings in some of their Saturday classes. Their website is www.bluevalleyrec.org and their phone number is ###-###-####.

There is a place called " A FairyTale Ballet" at 143rd and Metcalf.

I also agree with Blue Valley. My daughter took lessons from Miss Marilyn and she is so great with this age group!

Good luck!

Go to Blue Valley Recreation. The teacher there, Ms. Marilyn, is great. A mother/grandmother and she knows how to keep the kids involved. Most of the dance studio's use highschool kids to teach the little ones and it's all repetition (so it get's boring) and they don't know how to keep the kids engaged in the class. I highly recommend Blue Valley Rec.
