Oriental Trading is a company that is super cheap, cheaper than any party store I have found. Just Google them!

Check out Oriental Trading online. I know they have stuff for a jungle theme.

For my son's b-day I did monkey cupcakes. That might be fun! Try Family Fun Magazine online too. They always have lots of great ideas.

P.S. If you want a monkey cake, Martha Stuart has a great, easy to make one. Good luck!

I went to a Hardware store and they gave me for free the cardboard tubes flooring and carpet are coiled around. I had them cut in half at the store and then brought them home, added tons of large green construction paper palm leaves that my daughter made and brought them to her school for a jungle party. The kids loves the giant palm trees

See if you can track down a pith helmet to use as a snack or favors bowl. (I'll bet a ton of people already came up with that, but I haven't read your other responses yet.) Pick up some Curious George stuff or some sock monkeys to hang from the curtain rods or other "up" stuff like a chandelier. Above all, HAVE FUN with the whole thing!

That's also my Mom's 59th birthday!

Hi,

I had a safari themed party for my son a few yrs back and I went to the teachers supply store. They had a huge paper treeand all sorts of paper animals that I put on the wall down a long hall. Plus they had a huge roll of green paper that I put along the wall and cut jagged pieces out of the top that made it look like grass. They also had paper water and ocean animals that I put along the bottom of a set of sliding glass doors in the room that the party was in. I also found paper leaves there that I printed everyone attending the partys name on. I hung them from the ceilings. I then went to the halloween store (which is perfect timing for you) and got a pack insects. I put the plastic bugs all over the table which had the food. For food you can make finger sandwiches for the kids and cut them with cookie cutters into animal shapes. You can also make animal shape jello jigglers and maybe a mudpie (choco pudding with oreo crumble on top with gummy worms hanging over the edge). The cake can be cupcakes that you make lion faces or ladybugs for girls. if you look online there are plenty of design ideas for those. They also have alots and lots of kid party ideas books out there (look in barnes and noble in the magazine section).

Its super easy. Good Luck!!!!

Check www.birthdaypartyideas.oom and www.familyfun.com. I seem to recall cupcake directions as safari animals.
I generally read up and find some great ideas for my annual parties. I also often have Sunday Brunch parties since you're going to have adults there anyways and no one has them so it is a nice change of pace PLUS by having a party 10-1 or whatever, you free up everyone's day to do whatever they like. get some animal fake furs for use on the table and around the house. Also get a Balloon sculptor or a clown that does animal balloons there are a few good ones in the valley. also find fur and small Items that feel like different animals and put them in a big box and one by one have them put there hand in the box and try and guess what they have in there hands.

Tell your little one happy Birthday as thats my special day as well although I will hit 58 on "our" Day

first of all, i wanted to say that your little boy shares a birthday with someone very special..my dad!
now, have you tried party city?? they have tons of decorations for different unique themes. also, i used to be a face painter (now a SAHM) and i did alot of animal themed faces. that might help keep the kids occupied. and i have seen vines and stuffed monkeys at the dollar tree in broomall.
hope that helps!

go to www.orientaltrading.com
They have tons of stuff for all kinds of themes you can get all their catalogs in the mail. But everything is really cheap and great decorations. I used to use this catalog when I worked in the school system b/c everything comes in dozens usually and its great for groups or parties. I always buy for my kids parties from here for decorations to the party favors! Antoher one that is good but a bit more pricey is www.birthdayexpress.com
Good luck, J.
