I am moving to the Twin Cities in a couple of months and am seeking a good daycare for my 8 month old son. I would prefer a daycare that is racially diverse. Does anyone have any suggestions or recommendations?

One of my husband's friends mentioned that he was sending his daughter (12 months) to a Montessori school through the University of Minnesota (Minneapolis campus). It is run by a Chinese woman, and many Asian families send their children to this program. I am unsure of any additional information, but thought that this might be a place to start! Good luck!

I too was looking for a diverse day care (of course highest priority was a day care where I felt comfortable leaving my son). After MUCH searching, I finally found both: Little Stars Day Care, with Sarahi Barco. Her address is: 1216 Reaney Ave, in St. Paul, so that you can mapquest it to see where it is. She has a bilingual program and diverse children. My infant son will be starting there in August. Her phone number is ###-###-####. She doesn’t have any more infant openings, but she has toddler and preschool openings. Good luck! Feel free to call me if you have any questions about Sarahi: ###-###-####. E. Donner

Hi I.,

My daughter will be starting at MacDonald Montessori near downtown St. Paul in the fall. They have a diverse staff and group of children that we are quite excited about, and parents with children there rave about it. They have a website at http://www.macdonaldmontessori.com.

Good luck!

I have a good recommendation in St. Paul and Stillwater, if that is near where you are moving. Let me know. I think finding a diverse childcare depends on where you live. But you can find providers that provide a learning environment about diversity. Good Luck, it's hard finding good care!!
