Looking for Henna to Cover My Gray but Not Turn My Hair Orange

Hi all,
I have used Rainbow henna a few times and used their tips for minimizing the red tones (mixing with coffee instead of water, for ex) but still my hair comes out with orange tones, especially over the gray. I do have quite a bit of gray and my "original" hair color is medium brown. I'm looking to use some henna product that won't turn my hair red or orange. I did search around for previous questions and was reading that hennaforhair.com is a good way to go and that using a mix of indigo and henna may help. Just wondering if anyone had any other ideas or if you had good luck with this? I also would prefer not to have to leave it on for three hours...but is there no option? Rainbow Henna only takes about 75-90 minutes (a bit less with the heat cap). Just wondering if anyone had good luck with "Henna For Hair" or if you had any other henna products you would recommend? thanks, as always!

Mix your henna with indigo and you will get a brown or black color depending on your ratio.

ETA: You aren't going to have blue hair! You can get premixed henna dyes. Check out: http://www.hennahut.com/hair_dye

I have not dyed my hair with henna since the mid 90's in jr high!!! I liked the dark brown and red head tent. I was under the impression my blond (moms friend) older friend used henna. Her hair was dirty blond and the color choice selection was broad from red head to blond, black, brown. This is a question I would leave for the professionals as far as mixing the dyes. Espically when you start talking indigo....do you really want blue hair or even worse mixed with orange turn out to be a weird shade of green if there is too much blue. yes orange and blue should make brown but with stains, dies, glazes your effect might not be a great one. Ask the pros on this one.

My best friend uses henna and indigo to cover her grays. I just let them be.

Much success to you and your soon to be non gray hairs.

I use Light Mountain, and I just use the regular, not the cover the grey type, and it covers grey just fine. I use a mix of med. brown and red, so it's reddish, but if you use a color that's not red I don't think it should turn out red.

I LOVE the henna for hair site.
They are the most informative site I have ever come across.
I use the body art quality henna on my brown with a little grey hair and get a lovely auburn with copper highlights effect.
I haven't tried indigo myself (I love the red) but many have achieved a very nice brunette.
Use a little amla mixed in with the henna and indigo to cool the red tones down.

My hair is medium brown with a good bit of grey. I use Light Mountain Red and it turns it auburn and the grey becomes copper highlights. It costs bout $6 for a box at Whole Foods, and because my hair is short, one box treats it twice. The color lasts about six weeks.
