I was wondering if anyone had any good recipes for high calorie foods for a 14 month old. I am looking for nutritious ideas that I can use in the blender.

Here is a great site that has several different recipes you can make in a blender. My son is only 8 mo old, but I've been making his food using these recipes for several weeks now. I'm not sure how high calorie they will be, but they are all recipes for home made food using a steamer and a blender. I would suggest trying avacados...just mush up and eat...they are very high in calories and very healthy...my son eates them on a regular basis. Hope you like the website. Good luck! http://www.wholesomebabyfood.com/solids.htm

We fed our daughter salmon once a week at that age and avocado at least once a week. These are also soft foods that can be eaten with hands. I also fed her hummus back then, but not sure if it offers calories. I was not feeding her dairy at that time, but that's the next set of foods that work. She eats cheese & yogurt every D.. I also put butter on all of her veggies. Keep in mind there are nut butters other than peanut butter. I think I started with Tahini, but it's not the great (that's what is in hummus tho). Good luck!

Anything that you can mix with avacado...they are high in fat calories and tons of vitamins. There was a recipe for an avacado/pear smoothie in this months issue of Martha stewart. Also, yogurt..the full fat kind with cereal and fruit...put in a blender. Also, afriend of mine feeds her daughter avacado and plain yogurt mixed with flaxseed...blended. Hope this helps.

Hi K.,

I have a 16 month old who is on a high calorie diet. I have several recipes from his developmental doctor. Do you have a fax that I can send them to you?

You can try the grain Quinoa (available at Whole Foods/Centrqal Market). Just cook it according to the directions on the bins. It will be soft and easy to grind.
