I was hi-risk with twins and used Dr. Mario Yu, who is in Oakbrook (very close to Hinsdale). He is fantastic!!! He works in consultation with maternal-fetal medicine at Hinsdale hospital. I am partial to him, since I was a L&D nurse at Hinsdale Hospital and know what a magnificent doctor/surgeon he is. He is a solo practitioner, rather soft spoken and has a very gentle, soothing demeanor. If something goes wrong, he is the man you want to be taking care of you. I've seen him do some amazing stuff. Also, he is one of the only doctors you will find who has the competence and confidence to still deliver twins naturally (only if appropriate of course). The only down side is that he is a solo practitioner, so there is the odd chance that he may be out of town if something unsheduled happens to you. In that case Dr. Kubychek would take care of you. He is a very kind, middleaged man. He is a good doctor but not in my opinion with the skills that Dr. Yu has. However, it is very rare for Dr. Yu to take time off, especially knowing that he has hi-risk patients to take care of. One last thought, you might hear alot of people say that if you're hi-risk you must go to Northwestern downtown. Not true! As a nurse, I worked at several different hospitals and I can assure you that Hinsdale is just as qualified to handle hi-risk cases(except for the very rare instances) as Northwestern. Plus, it is a nicer, friendlier atmosphere.
I was in the hospital for 2 months during my pregancy and delivered the girls at 33 weeks. They are now 9 months and doing fantastic!
There is no twins group in the Hinsdale area unfortunately, but tons of great playgroups offered through the local churches, library, etc. Hinsdale is a very family friendly community and you should have no problem meeting other moms. I live in La Grange (2 tons east) and have just my twin girls Claire and Caroline. If you ever need advice, or just want talk, let me know.
Good luck!
