Looking for Kid's Table and Chairs

I am looking for kid's table with 4-6 chairs. I want it to be sturdy and versatile enough to accomodate many activities such as crafts, eating as well as other forms of play. I want it for mostly indoor use but would need it for occassional outdoor use. I have searched the internet but have had no luck. I am willing to spend a bit if the quality justifies it. I would appreciate ANY suggestions! Thanks

What can I do next?

Clubhouse for Kids in Plano is going out of business at the end of the month, and are selling all their stuff including tables and chairs beginning Feb 1st. They are not priced yet, but you would need to go there and look at them and write in their notebook what you are interested in. The website is:

I got a good deal with one at Tuesday Morning but they do not keepm them in stock. I wish I had one more. I use them for eating thent he kids poked holes in the top so I got some material and some plastic from Wal Mart and covered it and it at least cleans up and spills do not get through. It does make no slip for cups and I have a few more spills but not bad. I also got a set of 4 from Walgreens about this time of year. I could have used a few more chairs and the chairs to boths sets are the same. The chairs have locks on them so they can not fold on them. I keep looking for more too and you are right the online are not folding and I want them so I can put them away some times. I do not know where else to look. Good Luck G. W

Just saw one this weekend at Costco. Not sure of the price, but probably a little sturdier than Ikea. Had 4 chairs, primary colors.

I have a wooden set from Ikea that can seat four. The table is VERY sturdy- the kids tend to jump off it and it's still quite stable. The chairs are kind of small, though, as my 5 YO is outgrowing them and they fall backward if the child stands on them. Since my children are rough on furniture, the screws have come out and they have had to be fixed a number of times.

I also have a telescoping folding table. It seats 6. It's just like the 'adult' rectangular folding table you might have at church or work but the legs telescope so it can grow with your children. Then you can buy chairs like they have at school and daycare. My table is compressed wood/laminate with metal frame. Here's one, although it is longer then mine

This one at Costco is very pretty

And at Sams, here's a lot of different tables and chairs, both wooden and metal/plastic

Good Morning,

I just got a table and chairs for my 19 month old and I love it. I ordered it from JC Penny's, it was about $69.00, it's very sturdy, and great for all of my daughter's activities. Also, my girlfriend just bought a table and chairs for her children from Stacy's Furniture. She spent about $100.00 on hers and she really likes it. You might want to check those out. The one from JC Penny's is only available online or through the catalog. Best of luck to you.

Take care

Hey L. -

I highly recommend you try IKEA. The Mammut series is especially sturdy and good for outdoor or indoor use.

Check out the children's section on www.ikea.com (select the USA page). The prices are VERY reasonable, and the quality is excellent. I have the Latt (table and 2 chairs for $20), and it's wonderful for my two kids (ages 2 and 5).

Good luck!

We just bought a great table and chairs at IKEA. they have several options. I would stay with their all wood options, which I believe there were three.

They have a folding table set at Big Lots. It's 4 folding chairs and the card table. They are great colors and easy to move around the house, even outside! I have seen them at walgreens also!

I just found a cute little picnic style table with attached benches at Walmart. It's Little Tykes and $59. It's great because the whole thing folds up to save storage space and it comes with a removable umbrella for outside use. It can seat 4-6 depending on the size of the child.

Costco has a really nice set. It has six chairs some of them are painted. Like a red and a blue. The table is wood. It cost 100 something dollars. I tried to find it online but you will have to visit your local Costco. They even have a bookcase for sale that is primary colors and the side walls are a big puzzle piece. Good Luck.

We bought our 2 year old one from potterybarnkids.com and love it. It only has four chairs, but you can buy the that sits 6 and also has a paper roll so you can do all your crafts on. Not sure if you will want to take it outside because of the weight. I would suggest just buying a little tikes or step2 outdoor table as well.

Try Sam's Club. They have tables that you can lower to a child's size, and the are very durable. I don't think they have any chairs though.

I got a really sturdy one with 2 chairs for my granddaughter a couple years ago at Garden Ridge. I don't know if they carry children's furniture still. But It is not a light weight set and is nice.

I know this sounds stupid, however, I inherited a table and four chairs from my sister years ago. I was gonna chunk it, and thats when it hit me. Cut off the legs to make it shorter. It is the perfect Tea Party table. So, along those lines. Broaden your efforts by not focusing only on a "kids" table. You could probably get a "regular" table and customize it. Think along the lines of garage sales, flea markets, etc. A saw and a little paint can do wonders.

Just wanted to send my vote for the IKEA line as well!! I love the plastic colored line, but I run a day care, so my willingness for that kind of stuff in my home might be different than yours. One thing I will say is that I can get them clean everytime with a magic eraser, and I am not sure if you could get paint or marker etc off of the wood ones. Just something to think about! Good luck! ~A.~

I found our set at Ikea and its done really well for us so far. We keep it inside, but I'm sure you could put a sealer on the wood and use it for either inside or outside. They're priced pretty well there too.
