I am looking for a new peditrician for my son. He has pretty much been sick since he was 3 months old and no one can give us any answers as to why he always has a runny nose and this terrible cough. We have been to an allergist and determined that he doesn't have allergies. When he coughs he sounds like a 50 year old smoker and it really scares me that something else could be wrong.

What can I do next?

I have to advise Pediatrics East as well. Both of my girls are patients of Dr Lytle. He's wonderful! But then again, I don't think there is a bad dr there. The others that we've had to use on occasions, where Dr Lytle wasn't in the office, were great with the girls also.

Hello!

I used Dr. Lillian Israel at Simon-Williamson over beside Brookwood Hospital the whole time my kids were infants and up until recently. She was wonderful with them and she never overlooked anything. When my daughter was about 8 weeks old she stopped breathing and I ran her to the ER and they treated her for a cold. Well we went to see Dr. Israel the very next morning and she diagnosed her with Asthma. My husband had it and she had inherited it from him. Dr. Israel just never missed anything at all. I would highly recommend her. Also, she is wonderful with kids, she is a little quirky and by that I mean she wears great big colorful earrings and fun stuff such as that. She is about 4'5 and she has a huge personality.

Here is her new information:

Is your son in daycare or exposed to smoke? Even passive (i.e. I smoke outside only) can lead to frequent and recurrent respiratory symptoms.

I would strongly recommend Pediatrics East. We live in the Inverness area and take the time to drive to the Trussville (Deerfoot Parkway) office. Their office staff is very considerate, they have an on-site lab, pharmacy and they are open 7 days a week and after hours at their office on Hwy. 11. I am partial to Dr. Harmon but we've seen others after hours and all was good. Dr. Harmon was able to diagnosis our daughter after she continued to get really sick after other drs. just kept putting her on antibiotics. He saw her on a Saturday morning and told me he was staying if I would also to see what was going on with her. Before the afternoon was over, he and the lab were able to find out exactly what was happening. She had an UTI that was very uncommon for a 2 yr. old and she had to have some additional tests run at Child. Hosp. and be on medicine for a few years. He worked so closely with us to control her diagnosis so she wouldn't get sick again. She out grew the problem exactly as he said and we are so grateful to him. Our son likes him also!!
