I'm looking for furniture for the nursery. The set that I had picked is on back order until July. The baby is due July 6th. Please comment if you know of places to buy nursery furniture in the area other than Babies R Us and USA Baby. Thank you!

I ordered my furniture from WalMart.com and received it in less than two weeks. It's furniture that was also available at Babies R Us (there is a lot of crossover) and it was a MUCH easier process. Good luck!

Baby World in Dallas has beautiful furniture & bedding. I think you can buy off the floor.

You could try Burlington Coat Factory's Baby Depot (Grapevine Mills Mall). Target also has a nice Thomasville line of baby furniture. You can probably find it at a Super Target or online at Target.com.

However, from my experience (I have 2) and that of friends, the baby doesn't even use the nursery for the first 3 months (sometimes the first 6 months). Go ahead and order the set you want! In the meantime, pick up a multi-featured pack-n-play with bassinet and changing table attachments. You'll have all you need right there. You can stash baby's clothes, etc. in rubbermaid tubs or bins (trust me, you'll use these again later as baby outgrows clothes every 5 minutes), or a closet organizer.

Having nursery furniture to assemble after the baby arrives will give your husband something to do while you're feeding the baby in the middle of the night. What a great idea! ;0)

Try Baby Depot inside Burlington Coat Factory (in Grapevine Mills mall). That's where I got my son's nursery furniture and the prices weren't that bad, especially compared to BabiesRUs.

Have you tried any of the boutique stores like Babies on the Boulevard in FW (I am sure there are MANY in Dallas too). Also, Ebay is a great way to get things FAST and usually comprable cost. There is always consignment, like Kid 2 Kid. I guess it just comes down to what you are willing to compromise on. May I suggest you stick with your order arriving in July and just pick up a co-sleeper or bassinette on ebay . . .You'd only need it for a week or two (if you aren't opposed to having jr in your room) and cosleepers double as a changing tables. Also, with all the great closet organizers out you could find a way to make the clothes situation work too. Good luck I know everything will work out perfectly for you!!
