Looking for Pediatrician Who Is OK with Alternative Vaccination Schedule

try Medical Center Pediatrics, it's going to be a little hike for you though. They are in Bingham Farms. We see Marty Levinson, but all the doctors in the practice are great. My daughter had all her shots delyed due to numerous ear infections. Dr. Levinson felt that the benefit of holding off on the shots was more important. We were a few months behind on all out shots!

My children's pediatrician is Dr. Kevin Kutskill. He works out the of Pediatric Clinic on 10 Mile and Kelly Road and 23 Mile in New Baltimore. You can go to either office. He is VERY good. My children are vaccinated, but not through his office. I take them to the Macomb County Health department. It is much cheaper. When he asked me about vaccinations I told him we go to the Health Department and he was completely fine with that, marked it in their file and has never asked since and my daughter is 5 years old now. I am sure you will like him. Just call a few weeks ahead to get an appointment. The good ones are always hard to see and that's for a reason! Good Luck and congratulations. We are going with an alternitave vaccination schedule as well and our peditrition is ok with it, we talked about it at my Daughters 6 mo. appt. she said just to remind her when it came time. The Autism thing scares the hell out of me, even though the supreme court ruled there is no link between the MMR and autism, i'm not taking the chance. We are holding off on this shot until she is 3 instead of 1. Due to the nature of your question I am sure you have done your reserch as well. Anyway, Her name is Dr. Pokrifka, (pa-kriff-kah) I really like her we interviewed Ped's while I was prego and she was my 1st pick. The office is located at 16 mile and Dodge Park Rd. in Sterling Heights. Here is the # ###-###-####. I have only seen Dr. Pokrifka so I can not vouch for any of the other Dr's in that office. They are also very helpful if you call and ask random questions, also with same day appts.

I see Dr. Rebecca Wasvary at Beverly Hills Pediatrics on Telegraph, just north of 13 mile. It's quite a haul for you so if you find someone closer, more power to you. But I've been adamant about spreading out vaccines since my daughter was born in 2006 and Dr. Wasvary has never once pressured me to do anything different. My rule of thumb was no more than 1 vaccine at a time and at least 1 month between shots (to give the immunes system time to recover). I also NEVER vaccinate when she's sick (even with a cold) because the immune system is already working on the cold and could become overloaded if you add vaccines. I still haven't gotten my daughter the MMR - I'm trying to find it separated into three different shots. My nephew is on the autism spectrum and the "experts" can say all they want on how vaccines have nothing to do with it but he has the measles vaccine virtually colonizing in his body - please tell me how that has NOTHING to do with his autism/behaviors!?!?!? Anyway, that being said, I'm not anti-vaccine. I just feel that the schedule doesn't work for all kids. If you're looking for a good alternative schedule, the book "Healing the New Childhood Epidemics: Autism, ADHD, Allergies, and Ashtma" by Dr. Kenneth Bock has a really good one. I'm also holding off on the Chicken Pox vaccine and am not getting the Hep A. Another good source for vaccines is The Vaccine Book by Dr. Sears. He does an awesome job explaining how each shot is made, explaining exactly what disease they're protecting against (and whether it's deadly or not), and allowing a parent to make their own decision. Hi A. I go to a Dr. Oska in Warren on Hoover and 12 1/2 mile road he is really good, but I'm not sure about the alternative vaccination schedules. I have a family practitioner who is a DO in Sterling Heights. We have been seeing Joyce McDonald for over 9 years and my mother was seeing her prior to that. I love her, she listens to me and to the kids when they are not feeilng well.

Her number is ###-###-####. I have seen the other doctors in the practice at various times and like them also. The are at 19 Mile and Schoenherr Rd.

Congratulations on your pregnancy! We see Dr. Schindler in Novi. It's a bit of a drive, but he's the best doctor I've ever seen. He's actually a family practitioner so I see him as well. He's not only ok with an alternative vaccination schedule but actually recommends it. Contact his office at www.schindlermd.com.

BTW, are you interested in breastfeeding? There's a La Leche League meeting at Henry Ford Hospital at 10 and Schoehnerr every 1st Monday of the month at 10:15am. It's not too far, and I just happen to know that a very sweet lady that's been going to the meetings is pregnant with her first, due May as well, and lives in Easpointe! Playdate anyone?

You could check with the MCPA (Michigan Chiropractic Pediatric Association). They are in the midst of building just such a list of pediatricians.

I did the vaccines for my kids taht I choice when I decided to do them..

I never asked my ped if he was OK wiht that.. the dr. told me what vaccines were scheduled adn I decided which ones to get.

I basicly got all of the vaccines but I start at 4 months not birth..(they will want to give your baby a hep B shot before you leave the hospital)

I do not get the chicken pox shot or the hep A shot..

I would not have gotten the hep B shot at all but it is included with the DPT short so It saved the kids from 3 extra pokes..

I held MMR until my daughter was 2... I will hold it longer for my son.

I also take my 3 children to Beverly Hills Pediatrics but the East office which is located on 16Mile and Mound and they are all wonderful doctors. I have also broken up my youngest sons vaccinations and they have no problem with it at all. They will even wait to give the MMR(the controversial vaccine because of Autism) after your child is already talking and meeting milestones that are not met by children with Autism.
