We just recently moved to Katy and I'm having a difficult time finding a preschool or Pre K program for my 4 year old daughter. We weren't here for the open houses that were held in the spring or early summer, so she keeps getting waitlisted. Please help with any ideas or suggestions! I'm looking for any type of school except for montessori. Thank you!

What can I do next?

I am not sure daycare's fit into your category, but I love LOVE LOVE Hopscotch Child Care. The staff is 'one of a kind'. I pulled my child out of many daycare's because I am picky and I finally found Hopscotch. www.hopsco.com
My son learned so much there and he LOVED going to the school. I am now home with the kids, but if I ever went back to work....that is the place!

Tell them Byron & Garrett's mom sent you! :)

Try Tiny Treasures. They are part of Central Baptist and they are located on Greenhouse between Clay and Saums. The phone number is ###-###-####

Kids R Kids 24 in Katy located at Keith Harrow and Fry Road has a wonderful pre-k program. The staff is warm and friendly and the teachers receive extensive training and really do implement a high quality curriculum. As an educator, I like it because I can see from week to week the learning that is taking place with my child. There is weekly communication, an assessment and documentation of my child's progress. I always see teachers positively engaged with children and interacting in fun and loving ways. I highly recommend you check out this school.

Both of my kids (now 7 & 10) went to A Child's Reflection on Fry Rd. They have a great program and a wonderful facility and staff (and a fun, but expensive, summer camp program for older kids). I would highly recommend them if you can get in.

Hi B.!

Have you looked into Crosspoint Church on Kingsland and Westgreen? My daughter went to Pre-K there and we absolutely loved it!! I know several people whose children go there and it comes highly recommended. It is Christian based and you aren't paying outrageous prices. It is not an all day program like Primrose or Kids R Kids is, so you are not paying for someone to 'babysit' your child all day (unless that is what is needed, then these places would be ideal) it is just a few hours a day of instruction, with the option of extended day until about 2:30 or 3:30.

I am not sure where in Katy you are but we started at Primrose but are now at Kids R Kids and love it!!

My son will be going to Faith West for kindergarten this year. He went last year for their bridge class and loved it. It has a strong emphasis on Christianity and it is a true school with class from 8-3 so we still have after-school care but Kids R Kids is around the corner and will pick him up.

I am not sure what kind of availability they have but we have been very pleased with both Kids R Kids and Faith West.

Best of luck!

With your waitlist in front of you, you can call the team at Collaborative for Children at ###-###-####, and someone will locate other options within your area to call for openings and a tour. Katy is a pretty big area now, so CC can do a free search i nthe zipcodes closest to you or your regular routes.
