Here's another option for you in the Bethany area (nr Kaiser x Laidlaw). It is called Country Kids Learning Center. It is absolutely terrific. My daughter LOVES going to school there and, even though she is currently going 2 days a week (she's 3.5 when she started this fall), she asks me every day "Mommy is today a school day?" She just loves the teachers and her friends there.
Here is what stands out for me: Very low student-teacher ratio and this is combined with very high quality teaching staff. They are so in-tune to the kids and warm. Also, a great curriculum/daily schedule (you can see it in detail on line). There is a great sense of community at this school and the teachers are really encouraging curiosity, enjoyment of learning, creativity, responsibility, and self-esteem. I was one of those moms that looked and looked, toured, interviewed a whole gamut of programs including the big privates and a number of highly reputed Montessori programs. We even ended up trying one program when she was younger and decided it wasn't a good fit for us due to under-impressive teacher quality, even though so many other moms had spoken so highly of it.
So with that background, I would highly recommend this program. The only thing about this school is that the school is in a home and that can turn some people off. Before I toured and met with the teachers this made me very hesitant. But I was totally surprised by what I found there. It is not what you would call a typical "in-home" program because the school area/"classrooms" are clearly separate from the residence. Separate entry, dedicated spaces, very well appointed with items, toys, furnishings you see in some of the top schools (or hope you would). The curriculum is very good and has several options in terms of 2, 3 or 5 day programs, morning only, 2/3 day or full day with after-school care. Another thing I really liked about the program is that the children range from 3-5 years old, so there is diversity of age as well bringing more to each child at the school.
Enough of that. You can see I really am pleased with this program, but check it out for yourself. www.countrykids.info.
