Looking for Recommendation on Costco Furniture

My grandparents bought a leather sofa and chair from costco a few years ago (probably about 5 years) and it has held up pretty well. It is only the 2 of them so it hasn't had to hold up to kids but they do have 3 dogs and the leather still looks good even after the dog nails. I would consider buying from Costco if they have something you like.

I have never purchased anything from Costco on-line. I have a different suggestion for you though. If the couch you have still seems to be in good shape, have you ever thought of having it reupholstered or slip covered. I know my mom had a couch reupholstered and then used it for another 10+ years. I am not certain what would be more cost effective but it is a thought.

For anyone looking to replace soft sofa/couch cushions, I highly recommend Bob's Foam Factory in Fremont. They do it while you wait if they have time. You have several densities of foam to choose from at different price points (soft to ultrafirm. I like mine very firm, and got some great replacements. I might even have them make my next mattress...their foam is that good! It's great to rehab your furniture rather than throw it out. The furniture gets a second life, sometimes better than original foam cushions(Macy's couch and loveseat) in my case.

I think you will be happy with their quality. I have purchased Patio furniture from them and was very happy.
I know its no fun, but you can return to the store for a full refund if your not happy.

Our sofa set is from Costco and still surviving. I bought it in 2003. The cushions have gotten soft and I would like to replace them, but the couches overall have held up well. I got the microfiber which cleans up wonderfully. I washed ink off with just water.

I'd check the website to see who the actual manufacturer is, then I'd check the Better Business Bureau, Consumer Reports, etc. to see if you can find any information on the company.

Costco has amazing return policies. I'd ask what it is on furniture before purchasing. I do know they've modified it for electronics, but they may have a great policy for furniture.

Most furniture isn't made to hold up the way it was when our parents were buying things. Today, often cost prohibits really great construction, but there are diamonds in the rough. I got a sofa at Value City Furniture that was amazing for years. Only the fabric wore, but the construction was great.

My froiends have bought two sets there. The first one they had for awhile. They are not h*** o* furniture at all. The second one they have had for 1 yr and just returned it because it was wearing fast and not keeping iots shape.

My In-Laws gave my husband and I a couch from Costco when we got married and it is still going strong-we have had it for 8 years now! I have two kids who are tough on it but it is still in great condition. The thought of replacing it still hasn't entered my mind! Good Luck with your purchase wherever it may be.

We bought a couch from Costco a few years ago and are overall very happy with it. We didn't buy it on-line though, it was a road show in one of the stores (I was just about to buy a very similar couch at an expensive furniture store...we got a larger couch for less then 1/2 the cost it would of been at the other place). We basically got to design our own couch...we were looking for a large L shaped couch. We got to choose the three pieces we wanted and choose how it all fit together. We got to choose the fabric as well. One of the pillows is sagging, but that is from my children climbing over the back of the couch in the same spot all the time (the other pillows are fine). We have 3 young children and were looking for something to be sturdy, but not stress out about if it got thrown up on...which it has.

The only thing we weren't happy with is the time it took to get it and the delivery. But that is really the fault of the vender, not Costco.

On a side note, my husband's company is a vender of Costco and he says no other retailer has as high expectations of their products as Costco does. He never doubts any product that they sell because he knows what venders go through to get their products on Costco's shelves. They take customer complaints very seriously.

I would look for a slip cover. They can be custom made at many places, even if you have a recliner style couch. We have gotten standard sizes from Surefit and they were easy to use, looked pretty and were washable too. http://www.surefit.net/index.cfm

I bought couches from Costco about 9 years ago...still have them; the material has not worn out (they do need to be cleaned) but I would highly recommend them.

Costco usually has high-quality items, so I wouldn't worry too much about that. Costco's STYLE, on the other hand, is a little ugly, or lacking to say the least.

If you find a sofa you find attractive there, then go for it.

Pick up the February issue of House Beautiful, on page 26 there is an Affordable Sofa spread this month. The sofas are all less than $2,000, which is a good price for a sofa. Also, you should try Macy's. Their furniture is usually good quality, and you should also be able to find a very nice sofa for less than $2,000 there.

Do NOT buy a sofa at IKEA.

Hi S., I agree with what everyone has said here that Costco usually has high quality products, has a great return policy and all of that. For me personally though I would never buy a couch without sitting on it first. Too many times my husband and I have sat on a couch to find out that it was either too high or low at the back then we thought comfortable, or that it is too deep and didnt hit you in the right spot on your legs when sitting, etc. Maybe you have sat on something similiar though & this wont be an issue but just something to think about.

I have also been interested in some of the Costco furniture & wondered the same thing....however that being said.We purchased a sofa set (sofa,loveseat,chaise chair) about 5 yrs ago & it was a name brand(from a name brand furniture store) that I have seen in the mall for twice the price (just recently) so it is STILL being sold, and we have noticed the sagging already!
I also noticed that for some reason newer sofa's seem to be deeper,I am 5'6" and if I sit all the way back against the cushion, my feet don't touch.....? Too bad I didn't notice this when in the store....
I think, honestly that things just aren't made to last anymore. The manufacture's want you to have to buy a new one in a couple years. My mom, has had a sofa since the 70's, and even though it is out of sytle, it is still in great condition, it still looks new, the coil springs don't sag, at all, my feet touch....but it is also green velvet...yeww...lol
