Hi Ladies,
We are expecting our 3rd baby in August, so I'm starting to compile a list of things I will need. I am looking for a good, mini electric breast pump that is not too expensive and easy to clean and assemble. I will only be pumping occassionally like when I have to go somewhere and leave the baby at home with my husband. I supplemented with formula with my son, and never pumped so I have no experience with pumps. I have looked at both the Playtex mini dual pump, and the Evenflow mini dual pump. Has any used either of these, or is there a better one in the same price range. And can you use any bottles with these pumps? Thanks in advance for your help!

What can I do next?

I used the Lansinoh double electric pump. $150 or less. I pumped infrequently while I was at home, but once a day at work for about 5 months and it worked great. Target and Walmart carry the pump, and Babies R Us might now, too.

I've been using the AVENT ISIS for about four months now....i LOVE IT! I bought the one that you can use as a manual OR electric but have only ever used the electric attachment once...if you are only using it for occasional pumping this is definitely awesome...i actually use it at least once a day and it works great...i bought it over a year ago so i'm not sure how much it costs now but I know it shouldn't be over a hundred...i don't use the avent bottles, but i just pump into the bottle it came with and then transfer the milk to the freezer bag or another bottle...it does fit with a few different wide mouth bottles, though...i know it fits the NUBY wide mouth for sure because i use those sometimes...good luck!

I have an Ameda Purely Yours dual electric pump. Cost $150 new (if you just buy the pump and not the fancy backpack and cooler thingy that you can get with it). This pump is a true workhorse. It has gotten me through 2 kids, working and pumping full time. Probably overkill for what you need, but if you're going to spend $150 you might as well get a really good one. Then again, I also have an Avent Isis hand pump that cost me $40. It's great for occasional "getting out" milk, and/or if I am in a weird place (like an airport, a sailboat, or any number of odd places) and I REALLY need to empty my breasts.

Hi Suzanne

I worked full time so I used a bigger pump, but it was amazing. I bought the Avent Isis IQ Duo. It was $250 which may be way more than you want to spend. They also make a single that only has one pump so you do one side at a time. It was so easy to put together, so easy to clean and really worked well for me. The things that I liked best about it were being able to set it to any speed, you start it by hand at any rhythm that works for you and then push a button and it mimics your speed. Also the tubes and the pump are closed systems so it is impossible for milk to get into the tubing (which is possible with most other pumps) so chances of contamination are really low. Finally, all of the Avent products have the same top so you can connect any of their bottles, sippy cups, storage containers, etc to the pump, then either put a cap or a nipple on it and you are set. As a side note, the sippy cups are BPA free (if you are worried about that) and they are much cheaper than the BPA free bottles, but still fit the same nipple.

Hope this info helps. Good luck and congrats on the new addition!
