Looking for the Right Church for My Family

I would love for you to come to our church! I think your kids would love it as well. You mentioned a church with love well our church has the love of Christ. You can't get much more loving than that. It's a church that has plenty of fellowship and most of the kids are your childrens ages. We have a very young church full of different races. I really think you would love it if you came. We have mid-week service tonight at 730pm and we can pick you up if you need a ride. Services on Sunday are at 10 and 6. We also have prayer meeting on Tues. at 7. I don't know where you live so you may feel the church is too far but I asure you we have families who drive an hour and some who drive further it really is worth it.

I know I am going on and on but you just need to understand the love in this place. The last three monthes I have been on chemo before that I was sick too. All together I have been sick since January and I have only been coming to this church since Nov. of last year. Through all of it the women in my church have cleaned my house, took care of my children, and driven me back and forth to the hospital in Portsmouth. I don't know many people who will help you like they have helped me. It really is a great church with good morals. My only regret is not coming sooner. Bless you. Stephanie

I too have been looking for what you're looking for a non-judgmental church. I'm a single parent of a bi-racial 7yr old child. In some communities thats frowned upon. I started going to Foundry United Methodist Church on Va Beach Blvd and I love it there. People I didn't know came up to me to say hello ask me my name shook my hand and smiled. We just had vacational bible study and it was great I helped out in the Nursery while my son was in class the team leaders would come to me and tell me what a great job my son was doing. We also did volunteer work fillings bags for hungry children over seas we did 10,000 bags in less than 2 hrs. They also have a great youth program.

I would suggest doing a web search of churches in the area. That is what we did when we first moved here a few months ago. Most churches with websites have their Constitutions and by-laws where you can read it to see if you agree with what they teach. We have found that Thalia Lynn Baptist is what is best for our family and has what we as a family were looking for in a church. The website for the church is www.thalialynn.com. You can also listen to some of the sermons from the past few weeks to see if what Prentis preaches on is something that you may need to listen to. Good luck in your search. Good evening T.. I am not sure in which city you are looking to attend church, however, my church is very open and the people are very friendly. My first time there was when my daughter was 3 mos old and I have been there ever since. (She is now 14 and 1/2 months). People are not judgemental and they willingly accept everyone. It is a non-denominational church, they just want to make sure that you learn the word of God.

Hi T., my name is W.. My family and I have been going to Providence Presbyterian for about 3 yrs. now and we love it. They make you feel like their family. We have been very pleased with the church. The pastor is named Jeff Bell and he is so good. They have helped us out so much. In fact we just moved to Suffolk and we are commuting back and forth because I can't imagine going to another church. So you might want to try it out. The service starts at 11am, but Sunday school starts at 9am. They have a lot of stuff for the kids. They have classes for the older children and a nursery for the young ones. The church is in Virginia Beach off of Providence Rd. They are having their vacation bible school the first week in August. the one mentioned first is nice ive been there a few times. i personally like first baptist church of norfolk as i go there. so those are two to try.we have a nice childrens ministy with 4 services and bible study times during the weekend and many activities during the week. we have a web site www.firstnorfolk.org if you want to check it out.
