This may seem like an unusual request, but can anyone recommend a good marriage counselor in St. Louis or South County area, particularly one that takes insurance? I've always seemed to get supportive feedback from mamasource moms, which is why I'm asking.

Do you go to church? That's a good place to start and there's no charge usually. Other than that, I'm sure of anyone. Good Luck with your search.

Hi A.- There are two routes I might suggest both I believe are flexible in payment options as they are Christian services. One is to contact Covenant Theological Seminary ###-###-####). They have many graduates and professors who are fantastic counselors. Also two local churches offer counseling that I or a close friend have used: The Center for Biblical Counseling is on Ladue and works with the Kirk of the Hills Presbyterian ###-###-####) and also Chesterfield Presbyterian has a type of "pay what you can program" I believe. I commend you for desiring to make your marriage better and wish you all the best.

A., I wanted to recommend someone I've been seeing for over a year, I LOVE her! Her name is Dr. Aline Russell, and she works through the Care & Counseling center off of 270 & Ladue Rd.:
http://www.careandcounseling.org
It is described as an "interfaith" organization -- I chose to go somewhere with a spiritual connection, and have not been disappointed. In fact, spirituality doesn't come up in our sessions unless I bring it up, I just liked the background. Dr. Russell (at the time I started to see her) is the only person in the practice that took our insurance (BC/BS of MO), and I actually found her through a referral search from Psychology Today, which recognizes her. (http://therapists.psychologytoday.com/rms/prof_detail.php...)

I actually went for different reasons, but we've done a lot of talking about my marriage, and even with just me going, things have improved dramatically!

I wish you the best!

K.
