Looking for Transformer Birthday Cake

Dinkel's on Lincoln Ave. can do most character cakes. My daughter's birthday was last month, and her SpongeBob Squarepants cake looked and tasted great. I think the size was a half-sheet; we got 30 big slices out of it. The cost was $66.

I had a transformer cake done up for my son's 4th b-day. The name of the bakery is Schlegls Bakery on Touhy Ave there number is ###-###-####. They are very reasonable they are located 1 bk east of Crawford ave. They can do just about anything desiging cakes..

My son had a Transformer party last year and I got the cake from Sam's Club. You can even order it over the phone.

Pticek Bakery - I have used this bakery for years and they do an amazing job with cut out cakes in the shape of pretty much anything you bring them a picture of. Plus the cakes are delicious - I always go with the rainbow cake and whip cream topping. It's way on the south side but well worth the trip. The kids always have the best reactions to these cakes.

In downtown Evanston on Church is an outstanding bakery and they can make anything that you want. Bennison's Bakery. That is not far from the north side of Chicago, about 15 mintues from the border.

How far North do you want to go? If you want something delicious, try Rolf's Patisserie on Touhy in Lincolnwood. They have always made me amazing cakes. Last year my son wanted a cake in the shape of Saturn, it was gorgeous. I thought it would be a round cake with a ring around the plate. It was a 3-D planet with rings of Whitle Chocolate and hand marbled frosting. Zelda's in Skokie on MainSt. does amazing things too. She is Kosher, so not open on Saturdays but she has done cookies and cakes in many shapes for me. (I'm not even Jewish) I think my son's first birthday cake is on her website, a big baby face.
It sounds like Dinkles will work for you if you live closer to Andersonville.

It is not a "baked" cake, but I am partial to Dairy Queen cakes. They are the best ice cream cakes. They usually have a book to choose from and I have also brought in a napkin or plate for them to use for the picture.

If you do not mind spending more, Sweet Mandy B's on Webster near Racine has wonderful old school cakes. Their cupcakes are a favorite in our house. J.

Roeser's bakery (North Ave. & Kedzie) in chicago they are fantastic (my daughter just turned 18 friday) and i have been dealing with them since her 1st birthday not to mention i have 3 other children 15,10, & 9,... (that's how often i use their services) they are professional and i'm almost sure they can accomodate your request... Good Luck and tell the little one HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!

Sweet Honeybee bakery on Montrose is great. They can do lots of different cakes and can make anything that you may have a picture of. Their cakes taste fabulous and they are more reasonable than some of the other bakeries. We love Dinkels but have converted to Sweet Honeybee fans!

Try Crema Bakery at Foster and Lincoln. I know they made a tractor cake for a family I know. It was a regular cake with a smaller cake decorated like a tractor on top. The mom said it tasted great too.

Can't help you with the bakery, but I wanted to point you towards the "Cut up Cake Book". It basically tells you how to cut up sheet cakes and put them together and decorate to make all sorts of shapes. Someone has actually posted pages from a very old version online at:

The actual book has measurements for about 3 dozen different cakes and how to cut them, but you can probably get the idea here and cut-up piece of paper as a pattern for yourself if you're feeling creative.

I made my son a train cake for his second birthday last week and it was super easy (and fun)! It doesn't take a lot to make something look good to a kid. Just some decorating frosting, a small bag of M&Ms, and some extra cookies or candy. You don't even need to make your own frosting - you can get canned stuff if that's easier.

I have ordered a Transformers birthday cake from Dinkels on Lincoln near Roscoe for my son's fifth this Saturday. This will be the third birthday cake I've ordered from them - they're a little more expensive than Dominicks or Jewel, but it's worth it, because their cakes are excellent. They have a website, and you can find the Transformers cake online and order it over the phone.

SWEET HONEY BEE Bakery! They are very talented in decorating cakes & They are Delcious! They're on the 1900 Block of Montrose up the street from Starbucks.
I stop in once a week for a little cake treat!

Roeser's Bakery ( www.roeserscakes.com) - My family has been using them for about 20 yrs now. Their cakes are the greatest. They taste awesome plus they are beautiful & they have many great designs or can work with you for a custom design. We've never gone anywhere else since. What I also love about them is that if I forget to order a cake they always have extra cakes that they can quickly decorate. They are located on North Ave. & near Kedzie Ave. They have parking with is great.

They have done some special cakes for me and do a great job. There is an upcharge for custom cakes. I think it's around $12 or so.

I work for a food service distribution company and we deal with a lot of bakeries. You can try Roeser's Bakery @ 3216 W. North Ave in Chicago ###-###-#### or New Deluxe Bakery @ 10731 S. Ridgeland Ave in Chicago Ridge ###-###-####. They both deal in theme cakes. I have purchased theme cakes from them and they are delicious.

You could try calling up a local bakery and ask if they do Pictures cakes. When I worked at a bakery in college we would take a picture and scan it and print on a thin sheet of sugar paper with an edible sugar "ink". It was only like $5 more so maybe $10 more here. That is one option!

not sure how far north, but Deerfield Bakery is good at making character cakes.
