Looking for West Plano Church with Active Youths

I live in the West Plano area. Over the last couple of years, I have been trying to find a Church that has an active and engaging group of Youth. (particularly 8 year olds). I have two sons, a 6 and 8 year old. I'm Catholic so I started there, but was quick to find that the parents didn't take their childen to Sunday School since the children received religion during the week at the Church's private school. Then I choose a Methodist Church for a year, but notice there were barely any children attendance for Sunday School. I loved both of these Churches for myself. They were warm and inviting. But if there's a Church out there that's active with children, I would love to hear about it. Thanks!!

What can I do next?

I second Laura R's recommendation for Grace Outreach Center. That's our church home, and my boys (ages 8 and 9 1/2) attend the children's church. Age appropriate content, application of Godly principles and choices in daily kid situations. My stepson attended the high school services when he lived here with us. I work in children's church the 3rd Sunday of every month. PM me if you want to connect. I would be glad to go with you, watch out for your boys if they attend the Sunday I'm there or put you in touch with Director so she can answer your questions. D.

Custer Road United Methodist (Custer/Legacy) has a very involved youth group. CRUMY is the group they have (Custer Road United Methodist Youth)

Christ United Methodist (Parker/Coit) also has very good programs for children. We were very active with Christ United as daughter was growing up and it is a good chuch.

Both of these churches are well known and established in the area, have great preschools, children and youth programs.

I am not as familiar with St Andrews United Methodist (Plano Parkway/?) but I understand they have good programs as well.

Good luck!

If you would consider a Baptist church ( i know its not like a Catholic or Methodist following), Prestonwood Baptist has an extreemly active youth program for all ages. My kids are only 3 and 4 but they LOVE going to church and my neices and nephews also attend Sunday school there and are around your kids ages and love it as well.

You might also want to consider Bent Tree Bible Fellowship which is close to Prestonwood. It has a Carrollton address, but very close to west Plano. They have a thriving program for children, middle school, and high school.

Grace Outreach Center at Parker and Preston has an amazing children's program. My 7 and 8 year olds attend each week and I can really see in them their Spiritual growth. There are Saturday services at 5:30(small group classes for the adults) and 6:30(main service for adults). Wednesday from 6:30-7:30 and Sundays at 9:30(small group classe or main service for adults) and 10:45(main service for adults). The church is interdenominational and multicultural. This makes for a very welcoming environment. If you want to get to know others I really suggest a small group as they are more personal.

I'm the assistant nursery director and I'm in the nursery wing on Saturday's and Wednesdays if you'd like to stop by and talk with me some more. I've been at the church since I was 15, and we are very excited to have such a positive place for all of our children.
