I use Awesome cleaner from Dollar General. I know you are asking for a sweeper not a cleaner but since you are on a budget I thought I'd mention it. It cleans carpet really well and also works great on grass stains on jeans. It is only $1!
Hey again ladies. I am looking to purchase a carpet cleaner- pretty low budget so probably from somewhere like walmart/ target etc. I would like recommendations.
I rent one of the rug doctor things from the store every few months which is fine when spring cleaning and things like that but with 3 kids, 3 inside dogs, a cat, husband (LOL) and guest I need to be able to just run over my carpets every couple of weeks. Shoes are not worn by family in the house but most guests do not follow this policy and the dogs haven't learned to actually wipe their paws (I've been trying to teach them) so they bring in snow, mud, dirt, who knows what. My kids spill stuff, etc. I would like to be able to spot clean when need to and run over entire living area just whenever I feel it needs it without renting a monster cleaner and trying to do every available surface within the rental time to feel like I am getting my moneys worth.
Any suggestions or recommendations? Any warnings of products are welcome too. I have read reviews but wanted to share my needs and ask for recommendations based on that- not what others use it for.
Thanks
~ Many different models of Bissell~ could you please be more specific? Thanks

SOL-U-MEL is a mother’s dream!! It gets tough stains out of everything! It took out permanent marker from our couch upholstery and I recently used it to get old stains from our carpet.
I love Bissell, too, but my carpet shampooer is a Hoover SteamVac Dual-V Wide Path Extractor Deep Cleaner, and I love it. I've been using it for 6 months now, at least once a week, mostly to clean up pet stains. It does a great job, and it's not too difficult to set up and use. It is loud, though I don't know if most others are, too. It's 189 on sale at Best Buy.
A family member bought the Little Green Machine spot machine, and it was terrible. She returned it.
I also use the Bissell Pro Heat 2x (it's blue and cost ~$200--2 years ago). One suggestion to save a little money... find one you like at Walmart or Target (take a picture of the model & price). Then, go to Lowes--they will price match and subtract 10%! That's how we got our $200 Bissell for $180. Of course, we used the $20 to buy an economy size bottle of cleaner! I used it a lot when the baby was younger and used to spend a lot of time rolling and crawling on the floor. I also spot-clean when the cats have "accidents" (YUK).
I have a Bissel. I love it. It's easy and works great.
Hi J.
Whatever carpet cleaner you purchase I think it is important to share that if you are going to clean your carpet every few weeks, please know that the cleaning solution you will be using is very toxic. I absolutely have a product that will clean and a disinfectant without those harmful chemicals. Cleans well and NOT HARMFUL. Beside your children your animals are also suseptilbe to what you use. Good Luck S.
I received my first Rug Shamooer for Christmas this year and it works fantastic. I do believe they can be bought at Walmart. It is a Bissell Shampooer and I love it.
If you were to go on the Kijiji Site, they do have items like these for sale, second hand from actual owner. They are quite pricey and if you think that its not something your going to use real often, its best to get it second hand.
It totally up to you but again, check out the Kijiji Site as well and you can compare prices there as well.
Best of luck!!
We have the Bissell Pro heat 2x Pet. It is easy to use and does a great job. I have 3 kids plus I babysit one, and a dog. I used the hand attachement for my car carpets a few weekends ago! I've had mine for a year and use it every month or so for the living room, no problems so far!
I too love the Bissell. I did a search for you. On the left hand side you can narrow by price or brand names....
Hope this helps.
