Hi Lori - Bald is beautiful. I had always told my husband to shave off his hair because it was thinning.
Just remind him that one of the main reasons men go bald is from high testosterone levels. That means he is a verile stud, be proud. It's not a bald spot, it's the solar panel for his love machine.LOL
Hi Lori,
Has he tried Mederma (sp?) or something similar to minimize the scar? Those products work better on new scars, but they are supposed to help some with old ones as well. A far more expensive option would be laser scar removal. Also, my college boyfriend started losing some of his hair in front when he was 18. There was nothing wrong with him other than being dealt a raw deal genetically. Rogaine helped stem the loss, but he got tired of using it and decided to let nature take its course. After losing a little more hair, the balding actually slowed to a stop on its own. Now, 16 years after we stopped dating, his hairline isn't all that different from what it was back then while other guys I know who had all their hair in college are more bald than my ex. Anyway, your husband might want to go to a dematologist to check on the hair loss (the only thing that sounds unusual to me is that the hair is only disappearing on one side, not his age) and get advice on meds like Rogaine ways to minimize his scar.
Also, my ex keeps his hair about 1/4 inch long and it helps a lot, as others have suggested. For what it's worth, I've always thought Andre Agassi, for example, looked a lot hotter with his super short hair balding head than with his long hair!

I remember watching Dr. Oz on Oprah one day and he was talki ng about men's issues. He said there is nothing you can do to make the hair grow back once it's gone, but he did say there were 2 medicines and that can prevent the hair he does still have from falling out. One was Rogaine and the other I can't remember but I thnk it might have been prescription. Maybe th einfo is some where on Oprah's or Dr. OZ website.
FYI- Tell your hubby that there are a lot of bald men & some women think it's sexy. He's still young & I'm sure he's has a lot of life in him. Don't let a liitle hair get you down. Hair Sprays, Hair Club... Toupee', but I really don't think that's the solution.. Think of the cons...weather, rain.. Would he rather have a bald head or explain to people where he got the HAIR!!!!
" Oh, I see you have hair, Where did you get it"?
Lori, I'm sure that you keep reassuring your husband of your love for him, and that his hair don't matter. Hopefully he'll overlook this small situation.
If he is losing hair where there is scar tissue it could be because of lack of circulation. Fascia is a tissue in our body that connects everything, holds us together, and runs from head to toe. Also, fascia forms adhesions on any injury site. You can find a massage therapist that does Myofascial Release. Or, you can grab hand fulls of hair close to the roots and lift firmly holding for 20 seconds. Then move over one hand width to the next section. Next you can repeat the process adding a twist into the lift, first clockwise for 20 seconds, then counter clockwise. This can release the fascia and increase circulation. That may help with the body to get the nutrients to the folicals to grow hair. Good luck!
When I was a little girl, my dad was bald, but only in the very front and in a weird shape. It had fallen out because of "agent-orange" exposure when he was in Viet Nam during the war. He was only about 28 then, but it had been that way since he was about 24.
I am sure it is uncomfortable for your husband, but just keep reassuring him that hair is not what makes the man and he does have a story to tell about getting hit with the bat and everything if guys are talking about their hair. I don't think he should try to cover it or think about transplants or stuff like that. I knew a guys who was going bald at 18 and was using Rogaine, but once you stop using it, your hair starts falling out again.
Just tell him you love him and he looks great. And a lot of guys do look great with shaved heads - maybe he could try that.
Hi Lori. I was told that having a couple of teaspoons of Omega 3 oil (found in the refrigerated section of the healthy section of the grocery store) a day was good... you can put it on salads, on rice or just take it.
My husband has recently been going thin, and he is using Arbonne's Hair Care products. He says that it tingles like it's peppermint and it's definately circulating the skin... because it turns slightly pink... The pictures I've seen as great, so I'm hoping it works. I can show you how to find the products if you want to see them, too.

I once lost some hair on the top of my head. I started to pour wheat-germ on my breakfast cereal every morning. My hair in time, actually grew back. This worked for me, but it may or may not help your husband's situation. You can always try though. You can research on-line about different hair growth remedies or hair injections or wigs. There are also some all natural vitamins that can help with hair growth.
You might suggest he make an appointment with a good doctor to see if this normal hair loss or something else. Could be hormone imbalance (testosterone) or something else they can fix with medication. Also if there was extreme weight loss or shock to the body- the body can get tramatized and shed hair. My husband went on Atkins and began to lose weight very fast and also hair. It DID grow back but the doctor explained that the trama caused it. Good luck!
Lori,
My husband is 26 and has been having the problem for a couple of years. He is active about finding something to regrow hair. The only thing we have found to truly work is a product line called Kevis. Aside from getting hair implants with Bosley the Kevis made a difference. It is pricey but worth it to them.
God Bless!
PS. my husband did a lot of research and by proven research Kevis is the only product to produce actaul hair growth.
Try Biotin Shampoo and Conditioner
Eat as many whole foods as possible
Eliminate highly processed foods and Love him for his beautiful self
I don't know if this is helpful or not but ask him if he wants to shave his head. I wasn't into bald guys till I met my hubby. Now I can't imagine him any different. His dad was bald and so ashamed of it but with lots of encouragement from his mom my hubby learned to be proud of the things that made him different. Keep reassuring him. If you get something to fix the outword problem it doesn't make the insecurity go away.

Hang in there. My brother went completely bald at 16 on top. He looked like he was 35 when he graduated from high school. However, my friend Claudia is a hair expert. Give her a call and she will give you some suggestions. Her work number is ###-###-####. Tell her C. sent you.
Good Luck

I'm a hairstylist and I have to say that there maybe nothing one can do in the event of an old injury, but try Nioxin brand supplements for hair regrowth, or even some of your prenatal vitamins. Both consist of what we need for hair, skin and nails. Also, take a look at his grandpa on his moms side as male pattern baldness comes from there.
The sexiest guys are bald...tell him to shave his head.
If he's just starting to lose hair, I would highly suggest him to begin using the Nioxin line of shampoo and products. They sell it at most beauty salons or beauty supply stores like Ulta. My hair was thinning out a few years ago and I started using it and now my hair is getting thick again!
Ok a few real facts about hair and hair loss.
1. The balding gene DOES NOT come only from the mother. That's not how genetics works. It can come from EITHER side of the family. So have him check with his parents to see if there is a family history of early hair loss.
2. Hair and fingernails are DEAD protein. The folicle inside the skin that the hair grows from is living. Once the folicle dies, that's it ... no more hair.
3. SUDDEN hair loss in patches is usually the sign of an illness or stress or some other kind of trauma. If this is the case with your husband have him see his doctor to find out the cause. Also if this is the case it's also usually temporary.
4. Products you put ON the scalp to regenerate hair growth must be maintained basically forever. Once you stop using them you're back at square one.
5. When it comes to the actual hair itself (not the folicle, the stuff you brush), once it's damaged it's permanent. NOTHING you put on it is going to "fix" it. All it's going to do is coat it to make it feel better. Why? because the actual hair strand is DEAD.
Now having said all that if this is a sudden drastic hair loss I HIGHLY recommend him seeing his doctor. There are all kinds of things that could be going on to cause it. If there is a family history of early balding ... well there really isn't much to be done except live with it or try the products out there.
Hope this helps.
Hair transplant. Expensive but it works.
Hi Lori,
I am a Licensed Acupuncturist in San Jose. I specialize in facial rejuvenation and one of the tools I use is designed to work on hair loss. I have seen pictures of success although I have never used it on any of my patients for that reason. It is a tool you can use at home a couple of times a week (not involving acupuncture). If you are interested in learning more please feel free to give me a call.

Personally, I think guys look pretty hot with shaved heads. I would say if he doesn't want people to notice it as much, shave it all off. That might be just me though.

Dear Lori,
You can check out adding kombucha tea to his diet as well as raw milk. Both will thicken hair and restore natural hair color. It will take at least 6 weeks to work. The kombucha tea is expensive to buy so I would recomend getting a culture and making your own. The raw milk is available in some states.
