Metformin is your best friend. Smaller portions is your next best friend. Exercising is the next step. Congratulations on not gaining, as not gaining is the first step to losing. If you don't already exercise, start. Walking is good, if you have no other options. Get good shoes. I walk a minimum of 3 miles per day and often walk more, or run besides. You will lose weight and then you will plateau, at which point you will need to step up the exercise, and this will go on the rest of your life. I think people with pcos were designed to be workers and need exercise like they need air.
Good luck. Try to focus on fitness and healthy eating habits rather than the scales, as the scales will often go up initially as some of the fat is converted to muscle. Hang in there, and know that the changes you are making in behavior are lifelong, not just toward a goal of losing weight, and good habits will be great gifts to give to your children, so they won't have to suffer the same heartache!
